political correctness

whats the deal with some people online its like they frickin sit there trying to find something to get offended by ..people need a life and a sense of humor maybe some of us like to joke around eh ?i swear eveytime i get on here someone either corrects me or says there offended by something i say , worst part is i dont put something on here unless i know what im talking about a little but someone else always wants to make them selves look like the beatter man (or gal i know someone wants to get offended) this political correctness must be for a bunch of people with no lives and no sense of humor they cant just laugh at a joke, shoot i laugh at someone calling me white trash or inbread cuz im from florida or whatever.... people take stuff to seriously for there own good , more improtant things to worry about than some guy posting and trying to lighten things up a little by cracking a joke or two , worst part is sometimes theese people make me want to ring there neck but there safe thru thousands of miles of phone cord ,thus the only reason they have balls anyway right?i dunno i guess im just pissed off and now i look more ignorant by saying all that but oh well

Political correctness is bloody stupid and sucks ass! I hate it with a passion. The point of political correctness is to use terminology to not offend a group--but I find political correctness offensive! The terms are so stupid! :mad: :mad:

I've been here for quite awhile and I have not seen much in the way of 'political correctness' being expoused. Dont mix people disagreeing with you for being PC. Point me at the thread where someones being PC and I'll be glad to mock them for you. As far as it goes - Florida is the limp dick of America. (not pc, but nicely insulting)

PC can eat my shit. Perhaps these people that are offended shouldn't read/listen/associate with stuff they don't care for. I'm not saying I don't respect people, but I don't want someone trying to control what I do.

I dunno, nothin wrong with political correctness to keep from gettin on people's nerves. But when it comes to bein an arse about a joke or playful comment, or proofreading peoples posts, and yelling about a mistake that they know is probably just a slip up (happens to me often here), thats out of hand.

I mean, i try not to piss anyone off, but i wouldnt go over everyone's post with a fine toothed comb, thats just stupid. Yeah, i agree, these people have no lives whatsoever

I hate PC.

My High School used to have this funny, light humored video production show called "The Friday Show". It aired once a month, and it was just a fun break in the regular grind. Well, in my Junior year, the show was cancelled because the students who ran it wanted to put a decorated tree on the set, and the Administration said that it was too much related to religion, and the show would not air unless the tree was removed. :rolleyes: They (the staff) refused because there was no star, or cross, etc. denoting any specific religion. Anyway, that was the last string in a long line of crappy changes.

Another example from that year: Pittsburgh changed the lighting ceremony to "Sparkle Season" with a giant star as the mascot! :apuke:

In sarcasm, my closest friend and I sought out the perfect PC "holiday" name since every damn person gets offended somehow! We ended upon "Observance" which we figured was a safe bet! If you can be offended by "Observance" then go to Hell!!!! :mad: *lol*

As you read thru the thred i actualy felt guilty about what i said and tryd to explain the madness , probably was a bad thing i said but i make jokes about everyone and everything but i would like to know how everyone felt about it i didnt think it was THAT big a deal......

If it wasn't for this thread, I never would have thought twice about your original post. I don't remember if I read the other guy's reply before you posted this, or if I even would have.

I didn't see anything offensive in your original post. When you made this thread, I asked where it was because if it was here on AF, and someone was being unreasonable, I was going to go stomp it out. But when I read what the other guy said, I understood his point. I also think he was quite tactful about it, and did show a sense of humor about it; just that he didn't appreciate it.

Then, in your response, still in the other thread, I think you did a fine job of defending your position and explaining that you were trying to be funny. I also totally appreciate the fact that you thought to continue the discussion through email, rather than in the forum.

What confuses me is this thread. I dislike overly politically correct people as much as the next guy. I hate when people push it in your face. But I don't see where that's what the other guy was doing. At least in this case.

I didn't put that up to get you flamed. I just thought people should be able to see both sides of the story. There are times and places where people do get offended by what is said. They have every right to.

I don't know that guy's background. I don't know your background. I don't know what the culture in question is like where you are. But now everyone that's posted in this thread is all in an uproar about how stupid political correctness is, but there's always another side to things...

As for "damage control;" you did better than me. I didn't even think about that. Sorry.

no hard feelings man , with his post the whole thing that made me mad was i had to explain myself , i shouldnt have had to, i apprcite you wanting to step in though nice to have moderator types around to say "hey kids stop that" . i got mad when someone piped up and said you hurt me and i wasnt out to hurt anyone , when i emailed him i appladed him for his tact and he is a good guy but i just didnt appecite him pipeing up like that i could see it if i kept slamming native people but not on the first offense i tryied to lighten things up and now im gonna have to now watch what i say ,welcome to america where we deided to give up our 1rst ammenement rights to free speech for PC......MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA

PC really blows. A clown came into work a couple days ago and it got me wondering. Are clowns refered to as something like "children entertainers" or something now-a-days? I mean, a clown is a clown right? If you wear crazy makeup and do crazy things for a living, your a clown pretty much by definition (no offense to all you professional drag queens). I wanted to ask him, but instead me and two other workers asked what he did for a living. Turns out he was a banker, who woulda guessed?! :D :p

LOL, that reminded me of something that happened to my friend years ago. Someone accused him of being racist and he replied with

he wasn't racist at all, but that was funniest damn response I ever heard from someone.. I am sure he didn't make that saying up, but it was still funny as hell..
