What do these stickers mean?

I see these all the time. They some times have small flags below the letters. As far as I can tell, the D stands for Deustchland or Denmark?! I've also seen NL and GB version (and others I can't recall). What do these mean? Is it a heritage/ethnic pride thing?

methinks its just some drivers like to show which country they are from...when driving abroad......

I've seen MGB with a "GB", and my friend's old Volkswagen Jetta diesel had a "CH" right behind the trailer hitch, so we joked that it was a sticker saying where the "chrailer hitch" was...I think it must have been Chec... I'm not even gonna try to spell it. :D

It isn't necessarily country...

I've seen stickers with OBX with a tiny "Outer Banks, NC" caption on the bottom... Meanwhile, the educated driver knows that OBX is the lisence plate ID in Germany for Oberammergau!

Sadly, that's about all I know :p

I've seen them too, but I have seen ones that have letters like 3EB or BNL, DMB....these arent countries so they are most likely bands...3rd eye blind, bare naked ladies, dave matthews band...etc....i have seen ones that arent bands like GB and a few others maybe Green Bay or something. I couldnt really tell you. just thought i'd toss my 2cents in..:)

Wow, that's quite the list! Now I know that CH was Switzerland and not Czech...

When a car registered in Estonia crosses the border it is reguired to have EST in an oval. AFAIK, cars coming in also need a sticker with the respective country...

Hey Moppie, thanks for the link. It's hard to believe that there are that many international drivers here, cuz I see them everywhere all the time here--which is in the US.
