Overdrive Dash Light

I have a 1996 Ranger 2wd 4c auto trans 105K miles

Problem:
After driving 5-10minutes at 60-70 miles an hour the "OD OFF" light starts flashing. The transmission seems to be in a lower gear (other than in OD). I check the fluid level and it is fine (I checked the level with the engine hot and running and in park). I had the transmission serviced at the 55k mark.

Please help with a diagnosis........

by now you prob had your trans rebuilt. mine did that and the valve body gasket blew and pluged up sensors and fried the trans. hope yours didnt cost $1800 like mine.

My truck is the same, did you ever solve this problem? The CEL Code is P0761 and the OD light flashes around 60-70 MPH. Any ideas on where to check for a wire short or other easy fix?

there is no code p0761 for a 96.i have the codes from 96 to present and they stop at p0755.
