ok. I just bought a 96' Acura TL 3.2 Premium and its mint except for the stock wheels which are ugly enough to bring the whole car down..
I know nothing about wheels and tires and i was wondering if someone could give me a begginers crash course
Whats offset?
what is the lug measures (i.e 5/100, 5/4.50) i know my car has 5 lugs but what are the other things in the equation..
chrome and painted are finish and alloy and metal are base
so can you have a chrome alloy wheel? what does premium mean?(saw on a car build thing on acura.com)
whats a 2-piece rim, a 3 piece rim?
i dont need anything fast its a luxury car so what looks good?
the first number in the ??x? is the perimeter like 14-18 which of those should i get? the higher means performs more but is less comfortable?
whats the second number? (ie. 16x5)
oh and what are those rims that like rotate inversely so when the wheels are moving forward the rims look like there going backwards. those look cool.

That's a whole lotta question!
1. offset is the measurement out or in from where the original wheel is versus an aftermarket wheel on the axle axis.
2. That measurement is the distance between the two farthest lugs on the wheel (this only holds true for 5 lug wheels) on a 4 lug wheel, the distance is from one lug to an adjacent.
3. I guess a chrome alloy wheel has a alloy composing the wheel with a chrome finish.
4. 2 piece wheels have two pieces. Either bolted together or welded (not good) a two piece allows more flex than a one piece. A three piece has just one more part. Two piece wheels have a hub and an outer ring. A three piece has a hub, center, and outer ring.
5. 16x5 means the diameter of the wheel is 16" and the width of the wheel is 5". If you go with a larger wheel, the car will handle smoother, but will accelerate slower. If you get wheels that are too large, they can strike the fender when you hit a bump or scrape the fender when you turn.
