The manufacter suggest 600 miles under 55mph. That's bullshit. Remember, the RSX uses a high performance, high reving HONDA engine. While breaking it in my suggestion is that for the first 100 miles (try to have it highway miles so when u buy it go on the highway, drive lightly. Don't race the engine, learn the sounds and speeds of the idle which is about 700rpm once warmed. After 100 miles, you can exceed speeds of 55mph and gradually climb to 100mph if u want. After say the first 150-200 miles, you can do hard accelerations, race-like driving, but don't over do it. After all of that, you are kinda broken in. After 600 miles, drive it anyway you want. After the first 1200 miles, change the oil. The dealer will tell you that the oil needs to be set in for 5000 miles, that these newer engines are okay with oil in them for a while. BULLSHIT. Changing the oil early won't hurt. After that you can change the oil every 3000-5000 miles.
Any question, reply of instant message me....PEACE 2 THE SAgE.

Hey, would you believe me if i told you that I got into the import world in May 2003, it's crazy how much stuff i learned. And since i'm always improvin my whip, i gotta keep up with the times: internet, my boyz shops, super street and turbo mags.

lol...It's a pretty kinda common question that you'd know...Just I didnt. You just tricked me on how you said it. Got another question...Type-S has 200 hp, at like 7900 rpm right...is there anyway to get that sooner in the revs? Would an MSD Ignition system do that for me??
Another; what would be the best size piping for a type-s...because its a 2.0 it would only need like 2.5 or 2.75 right??

Yeah, it is a common question, lol. At the flywheel it is 200, but at the wheel it's probably 170, you can confirm this in "Import Tuner." I'm not too familiar with MSD Ignition or anyone's ignition increasing hp as a stand alone upgrade. Upgrading your ignition is for cars with really high hp, like over 400. The reason is to have a spark at every stroke cause the engine is moving really, really fast so you need a good spark everytime to maintain the horsepower you gained from your other upgrades. The piping on the Type-S is bigger than the base, i believe it is 2inches already....uping it to 2.5 shouldn't hurt. Honestly, since the piping is pretty good for a stock car, even if you upgrade the intake and headers, i wouldn't upgrade the exhaust. I would if you decide to do force induction, you know, turbo or supercharge, or even nitrous.

No I was wondering what would give the peak hp at a sooner rev, instead of 7900 rpm have it at like 5500 rpm, that way it still can pull more out of the gear and have max hp...ya know?

I see. An Apexi V-AFC, you can change the point at which the i-vtec kicks in. Stock its about 5300rpms. You can lower it to 3500 if you want. Since it is a AFC, you can optimize the car and gain more hp that way too.

I own a RSX Type S, and breakin in cars is an important part that will allow a car to last long.
Manufactors suggestions are also correct, anyone who says they are bullshit, is a dumbass. If you have forgot Acrua built the RSX, I believe they would know how to break it in.
The person that responded to your post couldn't be more wrong.
Highway driving is the WORST way to break in your rsx. You never want constant speed and revs when breaking in your car for long periods of time. That will set the piston rings wrong. You want variety of speeds and revs.
Now many people misunderstand the acceloration part of breaking in. Do not accelorate HARD, but do bring it up to its red line a few times during the break in period. Last thing you want is the piston rings set too low.
As for speeds, first couple 100km go slow, you need to break in the tires. Brand new tires have a almost plasic like coding on them, and they are way less grippy until you wear that off.
sageprime1 is a retard. NEVER EVER change your oil early on the first oil change. Most car manufactors use BREAK IN OIL. Changing the oil early can harm the break in process. As for the recommanded oil change every 8,000 km. That is fine to follow, cars are more efficent and do not dirty your oil has fast. If you wish to change at 5,000 km that is fine too, just DONT do it on the first oil change.
I'd give it 1,500 - 2,000 km before you start driving it like it suppose to be driven hehe.
Anyways good luck with your new car.

I have to agree with Carman about everything...except Sageprime being a retard. If I remember correctly, Sage's car is a fucking beast. Best to stay under a certain rpm and periodically rev to higher rpms in stages. DONT stomp revs to redline right off the bat- work up to it.

An MSD igniton won't help.
And if you were to tune the car to get its power quicker you're not gonna make as much power. The Hondata and Mugen ECU's both make the redline higher and the Hondata makes the VTEC engage later on - this yeilds the most power. For more overall power, get an Intake first and Hondata (although that makes the power higher up which you may not like).
