cold air intakes

How hard are these to put into your car? Right now I have a regular intake, but I would like a caold air intake. Is it something me and a friend can do pretty easy? Or would I need to take my car somewhere to get it put in?

it's pretty easy...it requires taking off the front bumper...if you know how to use a screwdriver and a 10mm socket, it's easy as pie:lol2:

Yeah, it's a cinch just like madtownhonda said.
How some people get it done w/o removing the bumper is beyond me...

you can remove the mud gaurd that goes around and under the bumper and all that to put it in there, i just removed and put mine in that way when i cleaned the whole thing.

It's a pretty simple modification. I've helped few of my friends install a CAI on their cars and if you take off the front bumper like the others said, it's not that hard. Here's a link on how to install the CAI.

you might also want to consider making your own instead of ditching your intake now and buying another one. just get some prebent pieces of aluminized piping and attach it to your pre-existing intake. i belive jc whitney has 90,120 and180 degree mandrel bent piping thats for intercoolers but can be used for your needs for like 5 -20$ a piece. all you need is a saw and some basic knowledge of geometry, the piping, and some rubber fasteners used to join plumbing pipe together. thats if your looking for functionality, of course if your going for show then just buy and aem or an injen or what not. oh heres the link to that piping if you decide you want to save yourself 150$ and go the functionality route.

Hey, I'm thinking about making my own CAI but do you think the AEM bypass valve will fit? Using the method posted on teamdelsol.com?

yes, they make different diameter sizes for the bypass valve. for example my lude uses 3" as opposed to a civic that uses 2.5" so if your intake tubing is 2.5" then you will obviously need the 2.5" wide bypass valve.

Just make sure you know that CAI also can suck up water easier than a short intake. You have to drive more carefully when it's raining.

But yeah remove the 5 bolts on top of the bumper, 1 on either side, and 2 on the bottom to take off the bumper. I think it's quicker this way than trying to fit your hands in there between the wheel and the bumper.

Take off the two bolts holding the resonator (white tube thing) and take off the tubing going to your throttle body (metal thing near the back of the car near the firewall). Then put on the CAI and bolt everything back up.
