'04 maximas

ok, we've all seen the new 2004 maxima on tv and in a parking lot somewhere, right? I gotta say, I don't like it. the body is too pill shaped. don't get me wrong, I like the performance, but that body style turns me off. Any one else feel the same way?

The shape is growing on me. Personally, I don't like the way it drives. It handles like a big car, kinda clumsy. I think my stock '97 corners better.

i guarantee you 97 corners better. the first thing i noticed when jumping from a 95 to an 02 was that the 02 has one of the shittiest turning radii in any car i've ever been in. second only to the 04.
i think the 04's are ugly, and extremely over weight. 3500lbs? what happened to the maxima's that were just over or just under(4th gen) 3000lbs. adding 10 hp to a car does't do anything when you add an extra 300lbs

Definitely agree with you on that last part>adding 10 hp to an extra 300lbs does nothing for your performance only helps to move the extra 300lbs a little easier.

The look of the 04 has grown on me but I'm still not crazy about em.

well i got to say that from the get go i really liked the ass on the 04. big and bulky, specially the rear window pillars overlapping the window like the Lexus GS series. i can't say the same for the tooth.. but there are other grills to come for it.. as far as performance goes..IMO, this new generation Maxima is strikly pimpin'.. throw some chrome dubs and slight drop on it and just chill.. definetely not track material.

have they come up with the fish eye rewire mod yet? :uhoh:

I only like the 04s in black. In any other color they look bad. I can't stand that grill as well...what was Nissan thinking?

Yeah I know how you feel. I'm glad they didn't pass it on to the 350. That would have been hideous. I hope this isn't a trend that goes on for very long.

I like the Back and Hate the front. I think with a different grill, some rims, and a nice body kit it could be a real pimp car. As far as performance I'd rather have an 03 max.

that's renaults influnce, since they bought into nissan. the new sentra's have that front, the nissan frontier, the maxima. i wouldn't be surprised to see it on other cars. i hate it too.

Personally, I hated the car at first as well. I did not like the front at all. Now I own one and would not trade it for anything. The car handles extremely well (even though it is heavy). I would buy it again. It is a look that has to grow on you and once it does, you'll love it.

My 04 manual SE is my second (had a 2000 manual SE) Maxima.

Briefly:
Looks : love it ; 10X better than the 2000
Handling: 75% of the 2000, skips in high speed tight turns where the 2000 didn't.
Delivery : sucks compared to the 2000 which had zero quality issues. The dealer told me they're assembled in the USA now, which would explain the problems I've had (rattles etc).
Comfort: a little tight to get into driver's seat (5'10", 200 lbs)
Interior : scren and joystick? Give me a break! It woulda cost a few $100 more to put in a colour screen (you can't buy or find monochrome screens anymore, but Nissan had the wonderful idea of having them mass produced apparently...sheesh)

Even the full size Amerimobiles have been shrinking - taurus, Impala, intrepid. Why is leg room a bad thing? Not every car needs to be a small, fast, sports car. What screen are you talking about the navi? If it is the navi screen, the navi screen is suppose to be in color.

So it had only 260 hp its still a powerful 5.7 V8. All you need to do is add headers off the corvette and got yout self a beast!

Chevy has made more powerful small block V8's, but otherwise the SS has got some decent numbers. 330lb of torque is nothing to sneeze at. Gas mileage is 17/25, not bad for a bigger car. What kills me is why do I have buy a mammoth car when all I need to 2" behind the wheel. Don't need more engine compartment, don't need a trunk I could put a Honda in (actually 2 Honda is you arrange them correctly). I just want my knees off the dash.

On the flip side, I saw an SS on the road this week. I sighed. It's like running into the girl you had a crush on in High School. "Hey baby, how you doin? You still look good. I hope your man is treatin you right"
