Problem with door and headlight warning sound

My wife has a 2001 Cavalier Z24.
When you leave the headlights on or the door open with the keys in the ignition it is not making any audible warning sounds like most vehicles do. I have checked all the fuses and they are all fine.
Where do I start to look for the speaker that is supposed to be giving out this warning. I know from experience these things are usually a bitch to find.
Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

just wondering...did you put in an aftermarket head unit... i heard that replacing it cuts out the door chimes... sorry don't know where the speaker is but thought i'd throw that out there

replacing the factory head unit will remove the sound. unless you keep it(factory unit) in the truck or something. i was told its the left door speaker that makes the noise. but don't know...i personally hate that noise so when i changed head units was more than happy to get rid of it.
