Basically just post good stuff, be here often (like almost everyday), show a good attitude, show that you can resolve problems, and after time when you've proven your worth, you can apply.

I have a paypal account set up where you can send large amounts of money (US dollars that is;)). Once it is recieved. I will then take aportion of that, and bribe Igor. :silly2:

I often wondered how moderators were chosen. I guess each forum has its own way of sorting that out, which is good. It keeps the animals at bay if you will and the rest of us can enjoy a nice relaxing time sharing information and the odd jokingly poke at each other.

Interesting. When Igor kindly helped SDU out when the server our forums were on went down for an extended period of time, AF has been like a home. I rarely go back to the SDU forums mostly because the Moderators here have gotten very stuffy and way too politically correct.

Unlike other forums such as you have mentioned, the SDU forum top mods choose who will become one. You would think it would a financial member but that has not been the case. I was on the Executive committee for 2 years with SDU and never was moderator. That was left up to those that brown nosed so badly or who were part of a click. Now it has just went completely stupid. So far in fact that posting facts and or even personal views come under heavy scruitiny! It is totally insane.

Generally speaking a good moderator is one with a good sence of humour, but also willing to sqaush a thread that is becoming or on the virge of abusive without becoming heavy handed.

AF is like that. There is a certain amount of freedom, actually quite a bit where you are able to express yourself quite openly. Yet there have been the odd time when a thread has become useless and it get locked. That is the right thing to do. The mods here use the right amount of common sence and that is refreshing to see.

The moderators on the SDU forum, which is not related to AF but a seperate forum all together on a totally different site.

The AF moderators are the complete opposite if you will as I have stated just before your post :)

Cheers, I hope that is a good comparison though :)

Well you spend as much time dealing with various personalities as I have over the past three years with a very large car club you tend to be quite open to all forms of interpretations, though as I am human I still get it wrong.

Here is hoping AF never proceeds down that dark path of heavy hand moderoisum. Right now AF is the example of how a forum should be run. You are able to laugh, relax, and share feelings, information, and emotions without being put under a microscope for every word you type.

The length all depends on the topic and or reply. Sometimes I tend to over express myself but that is also because emotions and type just do not mix too well and it is easy to lose what is ment to be said and how it is interpreted. This can cause a rather large stink really quick and get out of hand even quicker.

It is not so much as quantity of moderators but quality. They have a huge responcibility and a vast area to look after. It has to be one of the biggest time consuming and thankless positions to volunteer for :smoker2:

There is also a good saying that is so true. "No good deed goes unpunished". That is not a typo either guys.

Not enough mods? I dont think I've never seen a board with as many mods as we have here already. Lets do this in reverse. Make everyone a mod and let people apply to be a regular user.

*lol* Yogs, your cynicism intruigues me!

We have just the right number of active mods, IMO. Things get handled in a timely manner, and are not under lock and key.

I wonder what it would like to be a mod, I seriously hope I don't have to state which forum it will be in. I asked igor once but never whined enough, besides I'd lose my post-whore virginity and have to get a name change.

Im rare, im just not a mod :D

I wouldnt want to be either, cause I know I would end up doing a crappy job of it, id go off the handle.

Also, my knowledge of cars is quite limited. I just like to be able to come here and post my opinions and get my daily laugh.
