1995 Jeep Cherokee Front Passenger Window Problem

Okay, as I described in a previous thread: My passenger window is busted.. Essentially, the window handle spins, but the window doesn't move. Luckily - it broke with the window in the uppermost position and I have working A/C, but I kinda want the window fixed.. Does anyone have any advice or perhaps a schematic of what the inside of the door looks like? I can't see far enough in to do much good.. I can't even follow the window track up to where it meets the window.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Zen - I see your post is from a few months back, but I have a similar problem in my '91... were you ever able to fix? I'd really appreciate the details...
Thanks!
Thanks!

I've learned a bit more than I ever wanted to about the windows on my 93 4-dr. To figure out what's wrong, you must first remove the window crank. That takes a great yank while prying and the couraqge to risk breaking the crank, which hasn't yet happened to me. Could be your plastic crank is stripped. If that looks good, next remove the door panel. The rearward part of the vent window frame is the forward window track. That is fastened at the bottom by one bolt. If that's loose, it could be binding and that could be your problem. If not, it's likely the regulator itself. If you need to learn how to replace that, let me know. My shop manual seems to explain it in detail.

Hey thanks - I've got the crank and the door panel off, but I can't see the regulator - mine is a two door so the panel/track are a little longer. I can't really reach in there too well, either. I can't get to the front side of the regulator, only the rear. The window will roll down, but I can't get it back up unless I pull it up. It certainly feels/acts like the regulator, or at least part of it, is stripped. I'll go look for that bolt, anyway, just in case I missed something. I'll get back to you if that doesn't work. I may need a little help from your manual...
Thanks for the help - I really appreciate it.

I have a shop manual for a 94 as well...my passenger side window has the same issue if you roll it all the way down you have to boost it to get it started...stripped at the bottom. I'm just waiting to see a 2-door of the same vintage in a salvage yard...love to find a black door from a 2-door as mine is rusting around the handle pretty bad...it would be more pressing if I ever used that side of the XJ! :-)
