Erratic power locks and no keyless entry

I just purchased a used 1992 Buick Regal. The power locks work erratically and the keyless entry does not work at all.
The power locks work erratically, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. You can unlock and lock them about five times and then they just stop working. If you close the door and just sit there you can here a small click from each door after a few seconds, same thing if you pull on the door latch handle.
I've tried reprogramming the keyless entry. There is a wire by the attenna for doing this. Your supposed to ground it then the locks are supposed to pulse. After that you only have to press any button on the remote to reprogam it, least this is what I been told and read on another post in this forumn. After grounding the wire the locks did pulse but the keyless entry still doesnt work.
It was hit on the front drivers side corner with some minor damage. The fender and the bumber needed to be replaced. There was no structural damage.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, hoping to fix it myself if it is something simple so I don't have to shell out a big chunk of change.

Have you checked the fuses for the power locks?
Also, is the remote the correct one for the year?
There could be a loose ground somewhere that is causing sparatic operation. Or it coudl be that the RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) box needs to be either fixed or replaced to get the keyless system to work again. That may also be what is wrong with the power locks.

Your discription of your problem has me scratching my head. Provided you can manually lock & unlock the door, it sounds like the transmitter is working & the reciever is seeing a signal, the locks operate the same way or act up the same way with the switch used, yes? Your hearing the actuators work, they just dont operate the mechanism, right??
If that's what's happening i'd check the lock relay, may have voltage but not amperage to operate the actuator. After that pull the door panel off, the lock actuator comes off with the lock assy & disassembles from there. The act has a rubber end that engagues the lock & has been updated over the years. Is it loose or missing ? The origional material is a white/neutral color, the updated is black & serviced in a replacement kit part # 25664043, it has 2 pieces per kit. About a $6.00-$8.00 repair. If the actuator itself has to be replaced, expect about $65.00 each.
If I was thick headed & were dealing with the RKE
system problem, disreguard this, but it sounds like a power lock prob to me. You did say you hear something click in the door after doing a reprogram.
