My friend and I were in a Srt -4 and we beat the 350 Z in close to a 1/4 mile race. We pulled on him and ended up winning by about a car length. anybody care respond.

This isnt the first time ive heard a Z loosing to an srt-4. Ive seen a vid of one wasting an evo also. What year neon, 03 or 04?

yea it can if the guy in the srt-4 was the better driver, or if he modified it. if they all had same driver in it, the sti would definately beat it, while 350z should be slightly faster or about the same as the srt-4 depending on yr, and options. the 350z does the 1/4 in 14.1, from car and driver.

i Highly doubt that a 350z lost 2 a srt-4.... yes they are quick... yes it is a turbo charged mercedes engine...but in all the srt-4 has a special option which most people dont know about... only the people that buy them... the srt-4 has a optional stage 2 and stage 3 package for the engine... the stage 2 jumps the hp up 2 about 260 at the wheel and the stage 3 puts out 315 hp at the wheel... these options do not void the warrenty... yea of course it can murder a 350 with 315 hp... it does 0-60 in 4.5 with that much power... but in all its still your rental car neon with a beefed up motor... i dunno about u guys but i would perfer a 350 over a neon

Hmm .... STOCK SRT-4's have been seen running 13.8's., then again so has the z. Power to weight makes a difference. There is not stage 3 yet... 315 to wheels... lol not from the factory. Last I heard mopar had a stage 1 option . Cant remember what it included. That was not a dealer sold option. Thats aftermarket. Will a srt-4 beat an evo or sti from a roll? Driver depending its up in the air. From a dig.. haha.. it will see tail lights. Personally im glad Dodge has finally done something right. A neon with a beefed up engine.. DID you forget the fact that it has the best front wheel drive handling of probably ANY fwd car with that much power. It has the suspension to go with the power buddy. Yes its still an econobox. Then again so is your everday shitbox civic. I would aslo tak e 350z over a neon lol no doubt bout that. Still the fact remains.. that poor neon is still just that .. a neon.. by the way... sti's and evos have been down into the low 13's stock.. car and driver.... ... think 13.2 and 13.3 respectively..... hmm.. 13.8 vs 13.2... not a chance except from a roll....

yea i was stoked that we beat it, we reved on him at about 30 mph. so we started the race from a 30 mph start. at first he was winning then we pulled on him at about fifty mph. we couoldnt believe that pulled on the Z. I will never look at the NIssan Z the same.

One word DODGE, lets face it it is still a Neon I would rather look good in my Z than drive a Neon, how many times am I going to be running a 1/4 mile with a Neon.

I would like to see them on a road course though and see if they still can hang with a Z, I doubt it.

if my info serves me currectly then the 2.4 liter found in the car i would love to own, is made by hyundai for mitsubishi. and then we all know mitsubisshi and chrysler sharing stuff.

the original 2.4 came was originally made in mexico and has been troughly redesigned for the turbo PT cruiser and the srt4

and its made in the USA...if you would like some pictures i recomend the SCC a few months back when they went to the actual factory factory

I don't know why people find it so hard to believe that its an american engine made by chrysler

Stick them in the road course and see what happens. Anything but the quarter=smoked SRT-4

The new crossfire engine is made by Mercedes from what I believe (nothing to back this up off hand) but that’s a new thing. The SRT is not Mercedes, if you can prove otherwise I will say I’m wrong. But the 350z still looks better, drives better and is NA so much more reliable and still (around the same power)* If it was as light as an econobox it would be just as fast. I never liked the looks of the neon so adding a overpowered, overworked engine it is will not make me buy one. But I do give props to Dodge for the car, only if it wasn’t so dang ugly.

to me it is ok maybe not just 1/4 mile time. but proformance in general. of and performance with smaller engines and less power. i hate see v8s with over 350 hp only running in the 14 sec. range.

I have taken a 350Z also, and my RX7 was pretty much stock, downpipe and intake was all the mods. and I got him by a car lenght in quarter mile street race.

As far as SRT, my friend raced one, his RX-7 is pushing 300HP flat on a non-seq stock turbo set up and he got him ona quarter mile street race by 2 cars.

Its all upon the drivers! and also weight ratio! my RX7 only had about 255 HP when i raced the 350 Z, and even though the 350 Z has a bit more power stock. The RX7 is only 2300 Lbs.

the 350 Z is heavier compared to the RX7 or teh SR-T and you shouldnt judge a 350 Z becuase of one race. Hell I got murdered by a honda Civic Hatchback once! But that doesnt mean anything he was running NOS and Turbo charge! he also weights half of my car!

So judging a car by a race isnt politicly correct. Weight are a big important factor when racing 2 stock vehicles

ok your humor is so-so, i dont like neons i just respect a car from the show room that can run in the 13 range in the 1/4 and still coasting less then $21,000. i do not come from a world or skylines and z cars. i come from a world where the best we can hope from is a 96 GSX or a 95 acura intgera gs. i own and am proud to own a 2002 grand am. srt-4 is the fastest car i can afford tomorrow, oh wait no i cant cuz my car insurence will be too high. i am not knocking what you own i love what ya got in ya garage. but my grand am is parked outside my apartment building and i love it. thats all i was not affending by you at all its just you knocking the best i have a chance to afford.
