No Spark at the plugs

I have a 1997 Eclipse GSX. I bent valves on the head so I replaces it with a first gen and which ment that I change the intake manifold. I have now got the new coil packs and starter chip. I have the timing on but it will not start because there is no spark at the plugs. Any Ideas what to do?

Id look to your wiring. So your running 1G coils? Whats a starter chip?

The reason your car wont run is there is now no cam angle sensor hooked up ;o) The 1g head does NOT have provisions to mount the 2g cam angle sensor, and a lot of welding and fabrication is required to do it. You should have hte plug hanging there by the intake cam gear with nothing to connect it to I imagine. You still have the crank angle sensor on the block, but the 2g ECU wont fire the ignitor without both signals. The only way out is to convert to a 1g cam angle sensor. The 1g doesnt use a serate crank angle sensor. Sice the crank and cam turn simultaneously (cams at half speed) the ECU derives the crank position from the cam angle sensor. These can be wired into 2Gs, and 97 and up are slightly easier to do. See www.roadraceengineering.com/1gina2g (it may be "1gina2ginstructions). If you cant find the page with the directions, I can get the actual link off my PC at home. Its about 50 bucks for a used CAS and harness (try to get at least 6" of wire) and takes about 15 minutes to solder it in if you are comfrotable with such things. Good luck.

He's correct. It just so happens I have a spare 1g CAS if you need one. PM me for price & shipping..yada yada yada.

I actually have the cam angle sensor already... any other Ideas... The starter chip is also 1G.

Yeah, good 'ol 2G's and their exhaust cam gear/sensor delio :icon16:
You have to elabortae more on this starter chip, I am a mechanic and havent heard of this term on a car before.

Thats what I get for assuming :icon16: I too have no idea what a starter chip is.
I have a 1gina2g swap, and these things can keep it from sparking. Bad 1g CAS (left me stranded once), coil plug not in, ignitor not plugged in, bad ignition driver in the ECU. I would plug in the CAS (1gina2g or a 1g, no need to mount it) and turn it by hand with the key in the on position. You will hear the injectors fire as you turn it (make sure you go the right way, I'm not sure what will happen if it goes backwards, the ECU may bitch). That will rule out a bad cas. The rest is swapping parts until you get a spark. Hopefully its not the ECU, but you can swap one of those with someone who is willing.

[QUOTE=95 GSXracer] I too have no idea what a starter chip is.
Sorry, Igniter chip.
I took out my new spark plug and they smelled like fuel so I know that the injectors are going.
I have a friend bring over some fuses to see if that will make a differance.
