I have a 2001 Suburban that while I was filling it up on Sunday for a short trip began leaking (pouring would be a better word) gasoline all over the place. The fire department was called (I was still at the gas station) and the Haz mat team. They said if I started the car it would have blown up. Needless to say it was towed to someplace with a sand pit for it to drain. Of course that isn't the tow company that the dealer uses so tow company swaping took place. Then today he told me they didn't find a leak....after some strong lanquage and suggesting that the mechanic needed glasses they called me back saying that the part broken was in the fuel tank...fuel sensor module or something. Of course it isn't covered under warrenty because the car has 46000 miles on it. We have had all sorts of problems with this crap and we bought it new. We have the extended warrenty with a $200 ded. but our bill is suppose to be $300 because the towing isn't fully covered. We've had to replace the brakes already. We've also had the power steering go bad in the middle of driving it. That was another $250 bill. IT was the power steering pump. I am at my wits end. Could someone give me some direction. I don't think I will ever buy another suburban. If it wasn't for the extended warrenty we would have spent $12-1400 dollars on this car in the last 6 months.

I have seen 2 or 3 senders crack at the wiring connector causing a fuel leak when the tank is filled.
The tank on your truck is a "L" shape with the filler port about 6-9 inches higher than the module assembly (where your truck is leaking)..the most fuel that could leak out is about 2-3 gallons.
Would your truck have "blown up" most likely not...was it a fire hazard...yes.

I recommend to my customers that they invest in an extended warranty when ever they purchase a new or used car...its like an insurance policy.
Understand that autombiles are mechanical in nature..hundreds of moving parts...there is a chance that one of those parts is going to break..its the gamble we take evertime we start and drive our car.
