Anyone know anything good about a vg30et in a 90' 240sx. Let me know if anyone has a turbo vg engine in a 240sx.
How does it handle......
Does it have a problem peeling out?.....
Thanks

what does it matter if it "peels out" well? planning to show just how big your penis is by doing burn-outs in public places? i'd recommend against it, as last friday night i was at the movies and some retard in an Integra got a hefty ticket for burning out right in front of the theatre. yeah, he must be hung like a donkey. :disappoin
anyways, there's no point to a VG30 swap into a 240 unless you're willing to put the $$ into the ETT swap (which would ruin the weight dist.) i don't see why you'd spend money to put a SOHC clunky old V6 into your car when it needs a good bit of custom fab to make it fit. VG's may be cheap because they're relativley plentiful over here, but the custom fab will cost alot and you're better off just putting an SR in there.
oh, and there was just a thread like last week about this. check around before just posting something on a whim.

Lighten up guys!... Maybe by "peeling out" he was referring to traction problems. It might be a stretch but try not to assume the worst all the time.
Turbo: He's talking about the motor thats been widely used in many of Nissans cars (not just the 300zx), not the 350z engine (VQ35)
Stop ruining perfectly good threads... nobody has really explored a rebuilt >>SOHC<< VG30 which, even in N/A form are pretty potent by themselves... moreso turbocharged (theres a reason why its found in maximas... 200sx [america's version].. 300zx... pathfinders... even a certain mod's precious M30!) It may throw off the weight distribution, but maybe that's why he's asking anybody if they know how it handles? Would it strictly be for drag use? Who knows... stop speculating. Not everybody wants to drift or track race. As to this being posted previously, it hasn't! The other threads that come close to this topic are the DOHC N/A or TT motors. Even those threads barely get into discussion on the outcome of this swap.
Loosen up and open your mind up!!! There is no right way or wrong way... only the Max Power way bwahahha :jump3:
P.S. Stop the hate in this community. Are you people seriously THAT pissed off at newbies that you need to go out of your way to tell them to basically fuck off and simply can't ignore their posts? I doubt any of you really know this guy's intentions... and stop being so biased -- the more creative we get with our swaps, the more we can learn about what works and what doesn't. I wonder what kind of shit the first people who did Skyline swaps (RB20, 25, 26) went through before they were finally somewhat "accepted". You never know till it's tried and if people have the money or hookups to mess around like that, it's all good!
:bloated:
Edit:
I noticed someone deleted their post... something along the lines of having friends... Thanks for keeping it clean!

a) i sold the M30. it wasn't precious to me, which is why i sold it.
b) i have all the right in the world to think whatever the hell i want and speak my mind thusly. who the hell are you to tell me otherwise?
c) i'm saying i simply don't see the point of it. it's an OLD engine that would take alot of custom fab to install into a 240SX, and it doesn't have any more hp or any other pluses over any of the other conventional swaps. it's only merit that i can see is that it's cheap and parts are more readily available. that's about it. but the fact that it's cheap off the bat doesn't matter when you'll have to spend a good bit to install it.

brian you sound like me..... owning a car for 3-4 weeks and then sell it. isn't it hard finding a nice car you're actually interested in?
try finding a 95+ maxima 5spd, they are cheap and there is NO EFFIN WAY you will be disappointed. i picked mine up today and it's great. im not getting another car for quite some time (1-2 years).

you know me and how much i love drifting and RWD. no Maxima's for me, possibly ever...unless i get one for free somehow...and i wouldn't turn down a brand new one if offered...those are sex.
i sold the M30 because the tranny ended up costing way way more then i wanted to spend...i mean, for $800 i can get a rough 240SX and use $2000 to start modding it and drifting it. $800 for the M30 and i would've had to pay around $2000 to fix the tranny just to get the damn thing back running again, stock. i just didn't see a point to it. at least i made a profit selling it, although i didn't get to drive it once.
i'm now thinking i won't have a 240 until spring. it's getting colder here, and snow will fall soon, and most of my friends in the Ontario 240SX Community have already garaged their cars for the winter or are doing so within the next couple of weeks. if i bought a 240 now, i'd probably only drive it for a week or so before garaging it. there's no way i'm driving it in the winter, especially not in Ontario where they put more salt on the roads then McDonalds does on their fries. the only way i'll buy a car now is if i find a really good deal sometime over the winter, in which case i'd buy the car and just garage it right away and not drive it until spring. can't pass up a good deal! but so far, none of those deals have come around, so i'm still looking. i have a mini-van to drive around all winter, so i'm all good either way.

Are you people seriously THAT pissed off at newbies that you need to go out of your way to tell them to basically fuck off and simply can't ignore their posts?
simple answer. YES
wanna know why? cause i dont even have a 240 yet and im sick of all these honda rice-bucket faggots (no offense to the nice hondas) coming here and asking shit that they dont wanna even delve into. "does it peel out???". what the fuck kinda question is that. i dont care what the hell he meant, if he's gonna ask something, he might as well make it so that we dont HAVE to ASSUME what he wants to do with the car or he should reword things so that we dont get the impression that he's a big hairy-balled bastard that wants some attention by going through a pair a tires every 14 minutes.
you aswell should be pissed off. dont u see prices for parts rising lately? NO? well look again, cause they ARE!. i just called the place that quoted me 1800 CDN for a sr20det red top... and this was in july. i recently called the guy again and he said "sorry buddy, prices go up when in demand... ull see it at 2300 - 2600 next summer"
that doesnt piss you off? well maybe ur pockets are much deeper than mine. cause mine are pretty much sewn at the top. and i aint saying i hate all newbies cause they make it harder for me to make my car what i want it to be, but it pisses me off how they come and assume that its just a plug-n-play community with nissans cause everything has since been layed out for them with the honda community. u know what? i hated this place when i was a newbie.. but not cause they bashed me, i knew enough about cars to ask stupid questions.. i hated it cause every post was blown to shit... but NOW i see why.. cause of stupidity. not cause of the ignorance of the forum regulars, but because of the ignorance and stupidity of newbies who dont have the brains to look at a fuckin FAQ for god sakes and expect us to spoon-feed them some pablum flavoured nissan info. sorry man, i aint letting that happen anymore.
and im not flaming you.. im just speaking my mind to anyone who questions why we treat newbie bitches so badly.

A. Sorry... didn't know you sold the car already... you were even posting how you wanted to swap the engine out too for a RB or a SR... LOL
B. Sure you've got a right to your opinion... but as a moderator you've also got a responsibility of mainting this community-- not just editing, moving, or deleting posts. If you close threads that are shit-wars telling them to calm down but yet you posting moron  is ok?? what's up with that? Why add gas to the flames. "Don't start no shit, there won't be no shit"-right? But in the case with that empty thread he posted, that's totally appropriate :grinyes:
C. SOHC VG30e - You said it yourself, it's old (which means tuning should be worked out, and more than enough parts/options are available) and cheap! THAT is the point! Like I said earlier, you don't know the guys intentions with the VG30e. Whether he himself is a newb or not, he might know people who can help him out. Don't underestimate the VG30e just because it's old. KAs are just as old but you wouldn't dare trash that motor now... would you?
Oh BTW, ... I think an 84' Maxima was the last gen. they had RWD on them haha... and I'm told that they share the same platform as the old 240 or 280z? Imagine a swap like that ;) Anyways... mynismo, hope you have better luck with this car-- fix it up real nice!
Ralph: I know what you mean... lucky I got my 240 off my cousin before he let it go to his sister-n-law's bf. I could tell he was happy about it too since he knows I'll take care of it. I'm sure you'll find a great deal seeing that they pop up every now and then for as low as $500 (dunno if thats just a California thing). Pockets? I have no pockets! :D Hey know what? Think of it this way, demand is high, but supply is low... therefore high prices-- right now! If current trends continue, people will start increasing their stocks/importing, and then there will be high demand and high supply, which should give you decent prices (but with competition in import tuning these days, you might see companies going at it with eachother to underprice competitors and make that sell), AND if the trend ever wears out, then theres a surplus of parts with little demand... there comes another price drop. *a little bit of economics for you guys*
--And with that, let me just say, try not to confuse newbs with bandwagon jumpers, they can be close to the same thing but to those with little experience working with cars but have done some homework, show some empathy...--

when did i flame? the way he said "peeling out" made it sound like he would be doing burn-outs in public places to try and impress people. that's how i took it. if i was wrong, then forgive me, but he hasn't come back yet to correct anything he said, so how should i know? anyone who does burn-outs in public places just to garner attention, in my books, automatically must therefore have a small penis and are trying to make up for it otherwise. if that's a flame, then you've taken the meaning of "flame" a little far, because i think most people would agree with me that people who do that are idiots.
people are allowed to support and argue their opinion as long as they stay behind a certain line. once the line is crossed and the name-calling, direct attacking and shit-flinging starts, then and only then do i close/ban/warn/move. if you haven't notice, i don't ever directly attack anyone on here, no matter what my feelings are towards them. i offer them advice sometimes that may sound harsh, sure. but i'm only trying to help them. when someone starts a thread with nothing but "dfdfdfdfdfdfdfdf" in it, and make me take the time to close it, then yeah i'm going to say SOMEthing...all's i said was "moron". i didn't say "donkey fucking ballwasher" or anything like that, nor will i ever say anything like that towards a member.
'84 Maxima - you're right. i forgot about those ones.
newbies - there are SOME who show they're learned and worthy of respect, but most these days belong in the bandwagon category, sadly.
but i have no reason to be trying to prove myself to anyone. think what you will of me, it's all gravy in my books.

Flaming people wont do shit ralphcare...prices will go up and go down whether you are nice to these people or not. If you want something cheap then why are you pricing an sr20? They are the only engine that is going up in price because of all the exposure...rb20, ca18, rb25...all those engines aren't going up much. And even though I don't have a huge cash flow, I'm willing to pay 15-20k on my 240sx with everything I want on it...
If it gets too expensive then I'll fall back on some other cars that aren't nearly as popular that I've been interested in for awhile.
