B16a2 in a teg?

Is a b16A2 an easy swap into a 3rd gen teg? I know the b18b1 is a great engine, but I want high-revving vtec and I don't want to spend the money on a b18c.

You might as well do an LS/VTEC, then you get the best of both worlds. If you didn't wanna do that... shoulda said so.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
dont go B16 in your teg, the B16a2 runs about the same as a GSR anyways, maybe your talking of the b16a SIR2, then it is a bit cheaper, but still 1800 for the eng/trans/ecu.
B18C1 eng/trans/ecu. is only 2900. sure it is about a grand more, but you got 10 HP more and 13 ft/lbs more torque, not to mention it probably comes a bit earlier. and I bet mod for mod the B18C will see a bigger improvement.
and if you didnt have 2900 right now, for 1800 you can get the GSR longblock, bolt it up to your LS tranny, and then get a GSR ECU. later on after you sold your B18 longblock and had a buyer ligned up for your LS tranny, buy the GSR tranny.

Haha, thanks for the tip. If I found a complete GSR swap for $2900, I'd definitely do it, but the cheapest I've found so far is $3200, whereas I've found a b16a2 for $2300. Maybe the gains are worth the extra $900...

into the old muscle cars as well and the saying there is there's no replacement for displacement. so sure it's only .2 liters but that .2 depending on what you do is going to breath that much more.

Cool, thanks. How much would axles, mounts, and the shift linkage cost?

Not sure just have to call a local import shop and ask how much they could find them for.

Right, and it comes out to $3200, which is what I found. Oh well. I know it's a more powerful engine than the b16, but I'm just not ready to drop that kind of cash. Thanks for the help, though.

if you have a teg, you have axles and shift linkage and mounts.

you just need a longblock if im not mistaken the b16 is a direct bolt in infact the integra xsi in japan came with a b16. just go to www.hmotorsonline and look for the xsi it is the same as a b16a2 if im not mistaken.

So I could just buy the $2900 swap without having to worry about axles, mounts, and linkage?

Hey just a thought but I think it'll be worth it to wait a month or so if needbe. kinda pointless to buy one want another and then end up switching on down the road :2cents:

Yeah, I think it'd be worth it. Plus IMO it just doesn't sound right having a B16 in an Integra. Just wait and get the B18 :2cents:

in japan the integra came with a b16. you can get the b16 longblock for like $600 plus shipping. im not knocking the gsr im just comparing the price.

sure the integra came with a B16, but what go the faster tegs have in them, B18's. I witnessed a race today between a stock 4 door RS with only a chepa cone filter on the stock intake hose go up against a GSR with I/H/E, of course the GSR won, he puled nicely at the end and passed us up like it was nothing in 3rd, but the B18B gets the jump boht times. and out of a B18C and a B16a, what do you think has more power in turn making the car faster. so you might as well leave the B18B in and go lsvtec later or get the B18C.
and you actually do only need the longblock to bolt it all together, but you would need the vtec ECU and either mod your harness or get a GSR/SI harness. but you wont be as quick as if you had the close ratio tranny, and if you get a new tranny, get the one that comes with the B16, closer than the GSRs gears I think, so then youll have the B18 power wiht the SI's short gearing.

Sounds like a good plan, but a bit too complicated for me. I want to do a swap myself, and i don't know much about mixing tranny's and longblocks from different engines. Is it hard to do?
