grinding on left turn with load

If I have the back loaded up, 3-400 pounds, the truck makes an awful grinding sound from the rear somewhere - but only during a left turn. Could be a 90 degree turn at an intersection, or a gradual left turn on the highway. 2003 S10 ext. cab 4x4 w/locking diff. Remove the load, the problem goes away. Ideas?
