Don't post it and ask for opinions if you don't want honest feedback.

Can you show us where Zeljko makes this claim, I just looked and couldn't see it.
I saw his contest called "Best Model of the Month" which refers to the model that wins the contest, but nothing else.

And if I am not mistaken you were in on that thread and had your shorts in a wad awhile back slamming some poor guy for supposedly stealing someones idea let alone a copyrighted item, so I would rethink the engine thing.

forget what bout hrmodeler, i read incorrectly
about u dag: The people who stole my idea, didn't just steal mine, and didn't steal an idea.. He actually DIRECTLy stole stuff... THAT IS NOT THE TOPIC OF THIS THREAD.
I AM ONLY REACREATING THE ENGINES BECAUSE I FEEL THAT IT IS NECESSARY. NOt many kids <18 would like to spend 25$ on a kit with an engine, and another 25$ on a kit that ur transfering an engine too.. its not worth it.. IF my idea won't be heard by tamiya, fujimi, or aoshima,... than i will make a word for my self and help out the fella who doesn't like wasting money...
I'm sure many pepole will agree with me...
I already emailed tamiya, aoshima and fujimi asking them if they would make engines.. and got denied..
OK.. bout the intro, i have taken that into consideration.. and i will put up a new intro saying.. along with afew pictures..... such as "A cool place to get model parts" or... Mufflers, Intercoolers and more accessories!

While your intention is noble and your thought for others commendable, copying engines out of kits can get you into some seriously deep hot water.
Keep in mind what is going on with the RIAA right now pursueing people who copy music, now picture yourself in the same shoes as one of those people.
For a few $'s on the side, is it worth the trouble?

Amen, what you are intending to do is no better than the guy who bought and resold your parts as his, which he has a right to do since you have no copyright on your product, or do you? Can you produce one?
No! But the big moel companies do, you asked if you could get in trouble but you don't like the answer. Funny how it was different when you felt you were being ripped off. Now that hte table s are turned you sing a different tune!?!

Now thats a different story, I do that all the time. I do alot of kit bashing and get some great old OOP stuff from swap meets and ebay and I like to make copies for use on different projects.
BTW your ideas for your opening slogan are much better and accurate.
Also Micromark has a great resin starter kit for like $70 and its a good place to start.

And heres a nice little tutorial to start with

and a release agent for your master, RTV silicone for the mold itself and mold release
so if you add it all up the kit is not such a bad deal after all

Silicone works great as it flexes a bit and will allow for some undercuts, and there is even one that is high strength and the mold lasts longer.
I have heard of people using the two part epoxy putty, but I am not sure how much it flexes or how many parts you can pull from it before it wears out.
Whatever you use do not forget the release agen or you will end up with a nice enceased Tamiya engine paper weight

true I believe those will work fine, so if the hobby shop has resin and silicone you are set, I am a little anal and I love materials and tools so for me personally I don't think I would sub anything for the silicone.
And legos work great to contain the silicone.
Fly might add some insight into the casting process

If not. i might just get clay and try it..
also.. how many casts can u pull from each mold?

The casting silicaone is RTV or Room temperature vulcanizing, a two part mixture like epoxy so if you mean siliconelike you caulk a tub with it may or may not work.
Clay will flex and warp and you may have a hard time getting it to hold its shape. Now the 2 part epoxy like Tamiya Milliput might work fine albeit a little hard, and I know you can get something like that at the hardware store. I have some at home but have never used it.
Longevity depends on the amount of detail in the part. For an engine I would guess 15 to 25? I usually get at least that many wheels from the silicone molds I make. The epoxy may wear out sooner.

Integra14 has the copyright to the product, he scratchbuilt. So, it's totally logical to go after the guy, who copied his work. Meanwhile, if Integra14 copies Tamiya kit engine, and sell it, he'll be in trouble. Tamiya wouldn't even care, but AF members would.
> Integra14
Good luck with your project. Once you start making resin kits, you'll understand why many companies don't produce it. ;)

I agree with those guys about some of it, cuz if u get caught ur in DEEP S***, but w/e its your choice... And im warning you, it aint easy to copy things, it "LOOKS" easy but heck no! its really hard to work with resin. Maybe if u copy those engine for ur own use and maybe some of ur buddies but if u sell them something might happen....
