I was just wondering. How come the 200sx Se-r isint very popular? I've never seen one in a magazine, and they seem like they just as good(if not better) than any honda.:wtf:

You're right. They aren't very popular in the magazines, though I see them on the road all of the time. I don't know why.

i dont know why but i kinda like it that way..it makes us 200sx owners special.

---this is out of the blue but were are u supposed to jack the car up from the front? i was thinking on the oil pan but i didn't want to do it wrong. my power steering leaking somewere and i want to find it but cant from above the car.. and its to low to get underneath.. :killbarne

i dont know what magazines you guys are checkin out but i see the 200SX all the time in tuner car mags!

.... the place i always jack the 200sx up in the front is the intersection of the cross member (i think thats what it's called - it's black) and the bottom of the front radiator support. if you are using a hydraulic jack (most likely) then you should leave the e-brake off.

DO NOT jack it up by the oil pan, you could easily crush it, possibly cutting off oil flow, or crack it open all together. if you have to jack up a car, do it on a frame piece, like the cross member or frame rails. These are the skeleton of your car and are most likely the strongest parts. You SHOULD lock your e-brake and leave the car in gear to keep it from moving at all. And always use jack stands or i have no pity for you if a car falls on your head.

Hmmm... SpecVee.. I have always learned differently: As i advised, it is best to jack the car up from the cross member or frame rail sections, but if he is jacking the car up from the front what good is it to put the car in gear? and.... if he is using a hydraulic floor jack on wheels, by locking the rear wheels up with the e-brake it will cause more strain on the jack (which is trying to push the car forward and upward, but the rear wheels wont let it move). now, if he leaves the e-brake off then the weight of the car on the jack will keep it from going anywhere but it will also leave the jack to move freely as it increases its pressure upward. :smokin: this is kinda hard to explain in words, but easy to understand if i could demonstrate it.

this is what i was always taught by my superiors... if anyone else feels the need to put in their 2 cents go ahead.

It may put more strain on the jack, but the jack is only there to lift the car up, the jack stands are what should be supporting it after you reached the height you need. Reason I leave the parking brake on is cause i don't want to chance the car rolling and coming right off the jack. A buddy of mine had a first gen Firebird he was trying to fix up and he did this, the jack stayed in the up position and tore right through the floor boards. I mean a new jack is like a hundred bucks down at Sears, but a floor patch or worse would cost alot more.

try jacking it up a little first using your spare tire jack if it still fits under there, then using a regular pump jack. otherwise you may have to go invest in a low profile jack, not really sure where to get one, probably snap-on or a similar company.

good point SpecVee... but i think it would be better to just stick stopper blocks behind the rear wheels in order to allow the wheels to move freely around the brake system. i think it would kind of be a strain on the brake system if the e-brake is engaged and it is turned around the wheel (which is stopped because of its contact with the ground). lemme know what you think then..

yeah i just jacked it up a couple of inches from the side and that did..didn't put on the brakes just put blocks behind rear wheels. worked great thanks guys.. :smokin:

yeah your totally right blocks work too, just make sure you do something back there, last thing you want is a ton and a half of car on your face.

this is in relation to jacking the car up. the best to use is the hydraulic jack b/c the crappy jacks that come with the car are more work and dont hold the car up as well as a hydraulic jack. also i keep the e brake on all the time and block the rear, oposite to the side i am jacking up because that is where most of the pressure is. to me it seems the most logical and the safest way to do it. and if in the center then both.

I have a question for you guys, you seem to know what your talking about. I am in the army and stationed in Germany, I just found a 1997 200SX with a 1998cc 200hp turbo engine, It looks exactly like a 240SX in every way even the slanted evil looking headlights. I know next to nothing about Nissans other than what my friends have told me and they are sure that this is a mistake.........someone must have put a 200sx badge on the car. I need to know if this is a real 200sx with a good engine. I know that there are different models ie Euopean vs US and this is definetly a European but I cant find anything about the motor or why it looks exactly like a 240sx. the dealership said it had one owner who was very old, so I have a hard time beliving some kid did anything to it.

What do know about this beast?
can you help me out.?

ps. Oh yeah, when I took it for a test drive on the autobahn it hit 260km (160mph) without even breaking a sweat at 5000rpm (7200rpm redline) I was a little nervous taking it any faster but It definitly had the power to go faster.

the s14 chassis nissan's are called SILVIA in japan, 200SX in europe (and i believe australia), and 240SX in the USA. hope that helps.
