Engine running really rich.

My beater car is confusing me, it runs rich and there's a strong smell but no leaks.It blows white fumes out of the exhaust like first gear in a 18 wheeler but doesnt over heat and runs to a "T". What the hell is wrong with it??

It's confusing me too...in my experience

Black exhuast fumes=too much fuel
Blue=oil
White=steam

Does it have a cat converter?
