2 step rev-limiter

i believe i have posted this question on 1 other forum but couldnt get an answer so i will try my luck again....im just a newb in the in-depth world of racing and i just wanted to know all the info. i can...now i have been doing some reading about 2step rev-limiter but i just cant figure wat they do can someone please help me out....also wat type of advantages to they give you on the strip

A 2 step rev-limter would be used for: 1st would be for launching - this way you can dial in your exact launch RPM & not worry about holding it exactly. 2nd would be for max engine RPM's - so you dont over-rev. There are also 3 stage rev-limiter, 2 for the above & 1 for the burnout. You can get pretty crazy with an ignition system with the right amount of money, its all a matter of, do you really need it?
