Last night, coming home from dropping-off some DVDs at Blockbuster, I stopped at the left turn lane of this red light, just as the intersecting street's in front of me truned green.
All of a sudden, I hear tires squealing, and the unmistakable sound of "import POWah!" in the form of a large exhaust outlet for a small motor.
The intersecting street had three lanes, and I saw an old, white, 4-dr Accord with a badly-done, unpainted, body-kit attempt to scoot through that intersection, with a V6 Mustang in pursuit. From the look of how the 'Stang accelerated, it looked to be an auto, 99+ model.
Anyhow, the Accord was about 1/2 car ahead of the 'Stang ('Stang front-bumper in the middle of the Accord) when he got across the intersection...
...here's the funny part...
...a freaking 14-foot delivery box-truck, kinda like what you would expect to rent from U-Haul, decided to go too...
...and it was about a car's distance behind the Accord, and half-a-car behind the 'Stang! It almost stayed that way until they were out of my sight to the left, maybe to close to 1/8th of a mile...with the truck's front-bumper falling level to the Mustang's back-bumper.
I knew they were all trying, since they all left traffic behind them who putted along at a normal pace. I just found it so funny that that big 'ol box-truck basically kept-up with somebody's "race-car". LOL

Hahahaha. Sounds like Redneck's delivery truck. WOW that accord owner and mustang owner should slap themselves, if a delivery truck kept up with both of them.

So, the accord had enough torque to spin his tires?? Impressive... :disappoin
lol, j/k.

soon, we'll be seeing UPS trucks painted neon orange with flashing lights and underbody kits as well as the normal aluminum wing. then they'll start adding the fart cans, and dubs on the back an steelies on the front...
i can't wait...
did i hear a honda (accord) and torque named in the same sentence? it jus doesn't seem right...
(even tho the 94-95 lx/ex, both had more torque than hp for once...)

Hehe, that is great. There are some people like that who like to hang out at the mall on Sundays. Here in Utah not many people are out on Sunday so what better time to wait by a light, line up, and then race? Well I have pissed these guys off more than once, if they are the same guys? Anyhow; I was behind this Jeep in the right lane and two of those guys were in the middle and left lane getting ready to race. One of the was driving a Civic later 90s model. He had it painted with a body kit, big rims, low profile tires, spoiler, and it was all done up pretty nice. The other guy looked to be a stock Totota Corolla S hubcaps and all. The light turned green and they both floored it. The Jeep wasn't even trying and started passing them. He had an exhaust and the 4.7L V8 on it and and it sounded like he was driving normally. It was so funny when he passed them. Then I got up next to them, paced with them for a second, then I dumped it a gear and took off like a shot.
Perhaps they know they are slow, that is why they are racing other slow cars, I don't know, but I almost feel sorry for them.

must have changed the gearing too because stock top speed on an H2 is 82mph. and a 14 second 1/4 mile has a trap speed of a lot more than 82... a 17 second 1/4 mile is almost 90mph..
