I just picked up a 1990 tsi AWD, it had a burnt piston and one bent valve and the block has been bored .20 over with a new head and hks cams. I just bought the car I am new to the dsm market if any one has any clue what baseline hp I may be looking at, and the possible potential this motor could have. One other Q'n 20g or 60-1
Thanx

Its impossible to even guess at what your power would be without a mod list. You dont even mention what turbo is on it. But having cams suggests its been at least moderately modded. The motor is a 6 bolt, so it can do 500 whp on stock internals. And I'm nt sure I understand your turbo question, the 60-1 is MUCH larger than a 20g. Hardly comparable. Which one to run depends entirely on your goals, and how far you are willing to go to support the turbo.

remember its a 1g, so 190hp stock or 180 with an A/T... but this isnt stock, nobody i know replaces a head without major bolt-on work. id throw a guess at quite a bit more power than stock, but who knows.

It is a 90" tsi awd 5spd I would like to hit the 10's that is why I asked about the turbo. But the head 2mm over valves and it has a 16g ported/clipped. I just got the car just trying to get an idea of what this car may be pushing HP wise ( thanx for the replies I am new to dsm's).

On 16gs its not uncommon to get over 350 whp on race gas, but thats the limit. 20gs have done ~450 whp. 60-1 will get well over 500 whp, and people have run 10s with ~490ish. Tim Switzer ran a 10.9 on a 20g, but I believe he is the only one to ever do it. 60-1, or one of the larger garret gT30 wheels will make 10s more likely. But the turbo is a very small part of the 10 second equation. Good luck with your project.
