Question about boost.

It's been a long time since I last posted here. I got a question regarding Boost. I'm gonna be running a charger kit for my 2001 3.8L Camaro, and I'm just wondering what is the maximum boost pressure that I can run before having to rework the engine. Stock compression ratio is 9.4:1, and I've read on multiple sites that I can run up to 400HP or 14.7 PSI of boost...but I want to be sure. It's just a "I'm bored so let's see how bad I can screw up my car" project... much like my sound system :)
Thanks.
Thanks.

I don't think it will last like that at all but I'll wait for 1 of the Chevy Gurus to let me know if I right or wrong.

I wonder why they said 14.7, PSI because that's exactly one Atmosphere (usually they'd just round)??? Do they advertise it as a double in torque or HP? And that is intercooled right? Whatever though.
I believe you will need (or should at least consider) forged connecting rods or I don't think your engine would last very long. And manual transmissions can usually handle way more than autos. But then again you are the one doing the research.
What are your stock injectors and fuel pump good for? 'Cause you might need to upgrade them also (that's what I'd assume anyway).
You'll definately need your comp re-programmed. And if you're going to be boosting twice atmospheric pressure you should do the usual I/H/E shiznit (well maybe not so much with the intake part huh, hehe).
Having said all that, I DON'T own a camaro although my friend does, but his is an auto 3.4  and there is absolutely NO aftermarket support for the 2.8s or the 3.4s. I tried looking for stuff to do with his engine a few months ago and got rather frustrated. But now he wants a different car cause my 89 teg with a stock 1.6, a bad distributor and slipping clutch handed his ass to him.
I Sincerely hope you have better luck!
There should be some GM guys on this board that could help you a lot. Just wait a bit for them to respond cause anything they say is a hundred times more valuable than what I could say.

Thanks for the reply..was wondering if I was actually getting through.
I realise 14.7 is 2 atmospheres...I've checked on procharger.com and they said that with an intercooled system you can run up to that with a 9.4:1 compression ratio. Now, I'm NOT going to run that much..probably 10PSI at the most.
I'm prolly going to run a pair of T-04's and twin intercooler kits from a nissan 300ZX...My buddy runs a parts reselling company and gets stuff at cost. All the plumbing work is going to be done by hand, and the computer is gonna be pretty much an ornament inside my dashboard. I'm going to get a kit to use my laptop..forgot what it was called.
Other than a new air filter, my engine is a bone stock 2001 3.8L. NOTHING special about it. And the 4L60-e can handle considerably more power than what I'd be giving it...you know, since it's in the LS-1's and all.
