ignition problem

I have an ignition problem on my 89 jeep wrangler. For some reason when i turn the key to the start position there is no spark untill i let up to let it go into the run position. So for that split second i have spark. I replaced the ignition switch and still have the same problem. Does any one have a clue to what my problem is?

Check the ignition circuit connections, especially the grounds.

yes I agree, check the ground connections and clean them. they should be below the battery.
