Check Gauges??

I have a 1993 Grand Prix SE 3.1.
Every once in a while my car will stall ( usually at a stop light) just out of the blue. When It does this my check gauges light comes on.
The car usually restarts fine without further trouble. Occasionally , I will have to restart it 2 or 3 times then it is fine.

Also, all of my lights flicker all the time: headlights, gauges ect.
The problem gets worse when I press on the brake pedal.

Thank everyone in advance for ideas!!

Possible bad altenator/battery.

I would try and find out what code the car is pulling when the car stalls and then go from there.

I have a 92 SE 3.4, and my Check Gauges and Low Fuel light are always on. They have turned off a few times for a few seconds in the two years I've had the car. I was told it was a design flaw in the electronics and that it is common in Grand Prixs around that year. My doesn't stall, though. My lights dim a little when I press the brakes, but my alternator and battery are less than a year old.

I had the same problem in my GP with the check gauges and low fuel light I found a site did what it said and it fixed the problem for me. http://www.w-body.com/ its in problems repairs and prevention on the main page. btw its a cold solder in your gauges.

Well I will go better with Ripn12s. When the lights flicker all the time is related to the voltage regulator on the alternator. This piece of hardware would make sure that the A/C current being developed at the alternator windings gets converted to an almost D/C current at the alternator output. When you see the lights flickering is that the ripple being let out on the D/C current is really higher than what the car ECU(PCM) and other equipment is prepared to whistand. The ligths dimming when hitting the brakes are related to a really loaded electrical circuit or starting to fade battery
