Do you like the new 7Gen {01-02} Civics?

Just wanted some feedback on the new civics. I have an 01 and it has been very good so far.

Sedan, Coupe or Hatch?

Sedan: Not especially
Coupe: Almost
Hatch: Almost, but more than the coupe.

I actually liked them when they were just a bit less sleek. :)

They're alright ... I'm still a fan of the 4th and 5th Gen ....

i like the rear, but not the front

Did you know that the exterior was based off of a new Mercedes CL coupe? Not copied, just shrank.

I would like them more IF

1. The engine compartment didn't look as cramped as every other new car.

2. They didn't change from double wishbone.

3. They were in general more like the civic that we all know and love. Meaning = EASILY MODIFIABLE.

they would be way sweeter if they didnt remind me of a ford focus...they really messed it up.:confused:

i only like the hatch

ok they remind me of a focus , every versoin does, hatch sedan coupe whichever it all looks like a focus. every car person these days seems to be going towards that focus look, that is whyi am so glad i own my 4th gen.

hatch.. please, that thing is a pathetic pos I'll buy an SVT Focus over the new Si no doubt

The coupe is growing on me. I'm waiting for a really clean looking one.

The suspension change sucks.
The exterior styling sucks like a $3 whore.
The switch from SubCompact to Compact really sucks.

I seriously loathe the new Civics, except for the hatch, which I'm not very fond of, but am willing to accept. I'd rather drive a Saturn than a new Civic coupe or sedan, they're so unbelievably ugly it's just, well...unbelievable! They look like the 6th gen Civic ate 400 pounds of refried beans, shoved a cork in its ass and spent the next 2 weeks just getting bloated. The tail lights scream "Please accept me, American worker, for my ass end looks like your wee Ford Focus." I think Honda dropped the ball, and I thank the small asian god of all which is VTEC that I got my 99 before they butchered the line.

(Hope I haven't offended anyone, I'm not actually pissed off about the new Civics, I just wouldn't drive one, ever.)

Nope, sorry don't like it but then again, I'm in love with my 6Gen Coupe so I don't like much else. Like others said, it's too Focusy which seems to be the continuing trend with new models right now :( Jeez, even the new Subaru Impreza is a dog :confused: Dunno what these car designers are thinking, maybe it's 21st century styling? If that's the case, I'll stick with 20th century styling thank you very much :)

They look too much like a Focus. I absolutely hated them when they first came out, but after seeing some of the aftermarket parts made for them, and seeing the occasional 'tricked out' new ones, they're bearable. The thing that I can't stand most is the ugly colors they came out with. What's with the gold cars?!? I saw this silver '01 Coupe the other day though that was limo tinted all around, had some phat rims, and was slammed to the ground...it looked pretty nice. :)

Not only did honda make them ugly, but the 7th gens are shit to modify. Where I/H/E would have seen gains of 8-14hp on a 6th gen, you'll see 5-10.... pretty shitty huh?

And the new Civic Si looks like a Ford Fuck Ass....... pardon me while I take a shit on it :flipa:

they fucked the civic up. lets be glad they retired the sexy ass prelude before they could fuck it up! also, i feel sorry for the next accord!

I like it and I would have one, anywise I like way bettter the styling of the 2000 model year, it looks pretty elegant with is large chrome grid to be a compact car, but now the sedan seems too little and that fordward cab thinking (in the front) leave it for the Focus, doesn´t looks so good on the Civic!
The hatchback, specially in the front, looks like a minivan, specially on the 5door hatchback (picture) and yeah, it IS coming to USA to deal with the Focus ZX5 in late 2002. Isn´t fat and ugly? I like way better the sporty Mazda MPV!:bloated:

i don't like them...they fucked up the suspension, lights and no real engine. If I had to choose one it would be the Focus lookalike Civic Si hatchback.

I can't believe how many 7GEN Civic haters there are. Why is everyone bitchin about the suspension and engine. Hell its not like you can't modify it, everyone else does it to their older civics. I'm actually kinda dissapointed that I bought a 2001 Civic because they have done major updates to the 2002 model.

coupe- its OKAY, not great at all, but not TERRIBLY ugly
sedan- hell no

I'm sure it's a great car and everything, but the styling makes it look like a tiny Buick.

When did they retire the prelude:confused: This is a sad day. As for the civic, when i first saw it I saw the back and thought it screamed ford fucus. The front looks like a focus 2. I have gotten used to the coupe and dont have anything against the hatch (doesnt mean i like it) but the sedan needs to go back to the drawing board. They had a good thing goin before, now im not so sure. The new accord looks pretty sweet though cant wait till they start selling it

The Honda Designers were smoking some strong sh when they designed the 7Gens....I heard the 2002 models are the same...LAY OFF THAT $HIT YO!!!

The thing that gets me is the chrome on it. Most automakers stopped using chrome a while ago. Heck, do the new Cadillacs even have chrome anymore?

Doesn't seem right on a Civic somehow IMO.

The newer civics make LESS hp from mods as the older engiens do.... trust me, Honda is getting further away from the enthusiat...

The newer civics are the cream of the crap.... I'd take a 4th or 5th gen before a 7th anyday... if I'm gonna spend $$ to mod my car, I'm gonna get what I can out of it.. and the new civics blow for mods.

Well look at the new Civics: 1. Not made for performance {Hell no Civic is really made for major performance} 2. There are ways to get the level of performance you want, look at all the high performance 7GEN's in all the magazines, but you have to have the cash to support it. BTW, the NEW Civics haven't been out for very long, so I don't think there would be a huge aftermarket for them yet, DUH. 3. What was the original pupose for the Honda Civic? To be a reliable, quality built, economy car. If you want performance with alot of mods, go buy a Mustang or a Camaro.

My purpose for this thread was to get some feedback on what the consumer thought of this car. Not to bash it for low performance.

OK let me explain again...this time I'll mak eit easier for you to understand.

DC sports makes a header for the 7th Gen DX, right? OK, well the 7th gen DX header gains LESS HP/TQ than one for a 4th or 5th gen.

It is harder to squeeze power from the newer engines. Period. Any moron with enough $$$ can make a 7th gen fast. High performance? Are you reading Superstreet again? I am yet to see a FAST 7th Gen civic, if one even exists.

And if you wanna say "well if you want performance, why buy a civic bla bla bla" ok, then answer me. Why are you modding a car that is ONLY (in your words) intended to be reliable, econimical etc...

Why don't you go buy a mustang?

Quite frankly, I'd rather get a better looking, older, more moddable, and more aftermarket friendly 4th or 5th gen thatn a new 7th gen. Heavy, slow, hard to mod, expensive to get ANY power from. Yeah, that's my ideal tuner car :rolleyes: Guess I should get a Mustang huh?

I don't care if the performance products are as good for the new Civics as compared to the old ones, It does not matter to me. :smoka: hey liu, i've got a 7th gen and i'm totally diggin it... i have to agree with ya that if it's gonna be modded anyway, why not buy a newer sleaker civic that, with the right mods per the owner's choice, can look just as tight or clean as an older civic... i've had both and the only thing i miss about my '94 is that the aftermarket parts were cheaper in comparison and more abundant in variety. but that's just the way it is with new cars... eventually there will be so much sheitt out for the 7th gen that it won't be an issue:smoka:

You act as if that statemen tis the only one you've made on thsi thread. The 5-door hatch is excellent, good lloking, fast, VERY roomy (Like a mini-MPV), and the most reliable car I have seen, its only let-down is handling

The sedan however is less pleasing, frumpy, slow, cramped and less practical

The Coupe is hideous (But I wouldn't expect much better from an American design studio these days)

Are you drunk? The 7th gen is "sleeker" the day a Humvee is aerodynamic...5th Gen looked compact, sporty, and I suppose somewhat sleek. 6th Gen grew a little bigger, certainly wider in appearance, and created, in my opinion, a more polished, sleek, and better-refined look than the cheaper appearance of the 5th gen's little sporty plastic look (sorry folks, I'm not hating on 5G, I promise). The 7th gen is big, blocky, frumpy, and everything else that a Civic never should be. I'd drive a Hyundai before you got me into a 7th Gen anything.

This may or may not relate to the original question, and I don't want to sound like I'm harping on the new Civics, but for a performance oriented model, the new Si/SiR hatch leaves a lot to be desired. Same hp, bad styling, mac struts, more weight. Yes, it has more torque, but that is offset by the extra weight and lower redline. Honda admits that it is no faster than the 6th gen coupe Si/SiR, and if C&D is to be believed, its actually a lot slower. I am not impressed...
