Problem noise

hey all i just signed up bc i got a 96 mustang gt for my first car yea guess i am spoiled but theres reasons so its got 60 thousand miles on it but at low rpms it makes a noise a light ping/viberting noise i was told it was the valves and its normal at low rpms and i have been told that my engine is misfireing etc also my 2ed gear grinds even when i put the clutch to the floor when i shift hard some times gentle out mybe my gears out of synch? ty for the help everyone and hope to chat with u all.

#1 That ping noise is not normal and something is wrong. #2 Sounds like your tranny has a bad synchro.

thanks yea i read that a guy had a corba and it was doing the same thing so what should i get done can i replace the sycro or does that requrie a new tranny?
Something wrong with my engine, ight any clues or thought what it can be so when i take it to the mechanic he doesnt add a few things sense i am a kid so advence to any mechanics. its happend to me before. my car also burns oil told mybe head and head gasket bad? i really appracite it ty

if its just a slight ticking sound, its probably worn bearings, most likely main bearings. i doubt its your valves

then again could be lifters! try to listen where the sound is coming from

I don't know much about trannys, but if your engine is a 4.6L it won't be your lifters (doesn't have any). Has anyone ever changed the timing on your car?

The pinging could be something as simple as a exhaust leak. But since you said your car burns oil, it could also be a number of other things. Bad seals, bad rings, timing etc.

Bad synchro in tranny can only be fixed by tearing the whole thing apart so at that rate you might as well have it rebuilt. The ping could be a lot of things if I heard it in person I could give you a better idea, sorry. Check engine light you need to run codes to know what code is trippin the light.
