swirl marks

What is the best way of keeping swirl marks off my car when washing it. You know those marks you get when you wash your car and the brush makes little marks.

Honestly there is no way to stop swirls during washing. Dont use a brush for 1 thing. Start using good quality car shampoo with wax, use a soft CLEAN wash mit, drying either with CLEAN chamois or CLEAN microfiber towels. Use as little pressure as possible. Use a back 'n forth motion, not circular. Even a high-pressure touchless car wash can leave marks from the dirt being pressed against paint.

This is why you buy silver, gold, or a white car. Usually any light colored non-metallic wont show swirls like dark or metallic colors.

best way to not have swirl marks is by heat drying, like a hair dryer or something similar. they make ones espicially for this, but they are maonly for commercial use and thus are expensive.
another way is to let most if it air dry then go in with a very soft "pillow-like" towel and just glide it over the car, not putting much pressure on it.

It might be easier to remove the swirls rather than try to prevent them. Try using Meguires swirl remover.

Is that new smoke color okay for hiding swirl marks?

once i went thru a drivethru wash, left swirls all over, whats the best way to remove em? my dad soid compound the whole car but that sounds downright stupid to me

Compounding is for heavy damage and about the last thing you want to do to a clear coat finish.

light polish followed by wax or sealant
or
swirl remover followed by wax or sealant
Glaze can be added before wax/seal

I would do a 3 step polish , buff , polish and sealant , use all products along the same line they usually work best with one another. Think of the aerodynamics when working the paint. Compounds arent neccisarily harsh , I use a polish compound that makes a awesome finish and is impossable to burn paint with. I also use conditioners. The buff smoothes out the fine scratches(mixes base coat and clear coat) and the shine pulls the clear to the surface and shines it, the sealant locks in the shine. I wrote a step by step proccess for proper power polishing , if anyones interested pm me. Its not a small instructional theres more to it than you think , I start mainly with prepping gotta prep it right or the paint doesnt move well.
