Front brake overhaul.....

Hi All,
Well the morning started off simple enough. Replace the front brake pads. Sounds easy right? Uhh Huh. How'd that work out?
Well the right side went fine. Then came the left. As I was trying to loosen the bleeder screw to allow the caliper to open, so I could get the pads in and over the rotor, the screw twisted off. Uggh.
"Here's the thoughts as they passed thru my head."
"Well it will be easier to replace the caliper than mess with trying to get that out."
"Might as well replace both calipers."
"Hmm. If I'm going to do that I might as well replace the brake hoses as well since the van has almost 200K on it."
"You know those rotors look awfully thin as well. I wonder what those cost? "
"Only $48 each. Hmmm let's do that too."
"Oh yeah I better have new bearings as well."
$200 and most of the day later I have a van with all new front brake components.
Stops nice and smooth. But I can't tell if it stops any better. It does seem to brake and stop with alot less....well... fuss. I don't know that it stops shorter or if the brake pedal is any more firm. But it hauls down with less fuss now.
I'm pooped. Time to sit back for a while and then go clean up the drive way.
