Manual trans. (no forward or reverse)

I own a 1989 ford Ranger with a manual trans. I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden I lost everything, clutch, & no gears. I smelt the clutch burning so when I got it home I relpaced the clutch. Come to find out the slave cylindar was also bad along with the hydrolic hose that goes to the trans. Heres the kicker I have pulled the trans twice to fix both of these issues. Everthing is new, clutch, slave cylindar, & hydrolic hose. I now have a very strong clutch pedal but the vehicle will not go into gear. I pulled the trans and had my bro in law put on the clutch. Not actually putting on the clutch myself I am now thinking maybe he put the clutch plate on backwards. If he did would this create my issue of not having any gears. I checked the linkage and it seems to be ok. Please help.

pull everything apart again and take a look at your throw-out bearing. if you do not know what to look for, take it to your local ford garage and have a tech look at it. Remember, they'll always look at it for free.
