03 oil life computer thing advice

I'm closing in on 3000 miles, and was wondering if I should trust this thing or not? it's at 62% meaning it wants me to goto 0% before I need a oil change, I mostly do driving around 30-45 mph and highway occasionally. I just dont know if i should trust this thing or just stick with the 3000 routine

Change your oil every 3 months or 3000 miles.
The change oil reminder is that "hey stupid..don't you think you might change my oil" light.
Make sure you reset the light after the oil change.
Key on engine off, pump the gas pedal to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds. The light will flash, when it does turn the key off. The system is now reset.

So now that i got the Change Oil mesage to go away, now I get a Oil Life reset. :banghead: UUUGGGHHH, so now how do I get that to go away?
