Knock sensor

I need to change my knock sensor. It looks as though it might be screwed into a water passage. Do I need to drain the coolant in the engine to change it with out getting wet?

The cleanest way to do it is to drain the coolant.

And torque the sensor to 14 ft/lbs....over or under tightening the sensor will cause sensitivity problems
