I have a 97 Taurus, the check engine light is on. I checked the reading, it tells me the Camshaft Position Sensor is malfunctioning. Can anyone tell me where the Camshaft Position Sensor is on a 97 Taurus?
Thank you,
Scott

On my '96 OHV Vulcan it's located on the rear of the engine behind the intake manifold. It's impossible to see with out moving the wiring harness around that sits under the cover for the throttle and cruise control cables. I lost my Cam Position Sensor last year when the magnet became loose and dropped out of place. It destroyed the spinning reluctor wheel and required replacing the whole unit. Big buck$ from the Ford Dealer.

I am also having the same problems with my taurus the damn thing runs like hell and they say it is because of the cam shaft sensor. The speedo doesnt work it shifts like hell the gas mileage is horriable. is that for sure the prob you think.

Here is a nice link to the nitty-gritty of the CPS and how to change it out:

Thank you very much for that. Do you maybe have something just like that for the speed sensor?

Hey toofast4u. Please start a new thread instead of digging up 4 year old posts. It is a lot easier on us to find a new post than running to the bottom of a dead one. Thanks. way2old.
