I am taking out the water pump this weekend what are some thing i should look for. and is the is the shaft to the pulley on the water pump straight through to the fins of the water pump or would the pulley still turn and the fins don't. I just thought about the water pump this weekend and i have been running just water. the fins could have been destroyed by electralyas.

The shaft runs from the pulley to the impeller. I dont think the fins would have been destroyed. I know guys running straight distilled water and water wetter and no water pump problems - make sure you get a wire enforced lower hose so it doesnt collapse under pump suction - dealer only one it has for $22.00. If you even doubt for a moment the pump is bad just replace it. Just be patient and have a haynes manual with you for the install alot of tedious PITA removal of other items like the power steering pump and such but its worth it in the long run when your jeep doesnt overheat anymore!
