How difficult to replace clutch?

Had my Accord in for a new CV axle and asked them to check on the clutch. I was told that the clutch had about 5-10 % life left on it. I don't drive my car very much and have had no problems with the clutch, besides it feeling a little soft. They quoted $765 to replace the clutch, which seems pretty expensive, given that the whole kit should be $250 or so?
I tend to believe that it's pretty difficult, particularly without a lift. Am I right in my assessment?

Thanks for the reply. I kind of figured as much. The reman CV axle installed was $160, which is a great price in my eyes, and so I thought $765 was too expensive, especially given the comparative cost of the axle.
