2001 GC, Fuel pump/throttle cutting out.

Anyone else notice a problem on the 2001 GC where when hitting a "neutral" point during driving <meaning you are maintaining a steady speed> that the engine cuts out a little? It's like you have to either be slowing down or accelerating or else it feels jerky like the fuel feed is cutting out.

I had one mechanic a a shop tell me the fuel pumps on this model/year van has problems with the impeller coming loose and not spinning properly.

Truth? Fiction?

I have a 2002 Grand Caravan Sport. Bought it used, low mileage, with a full warranty in late March. Engine light came on today after some on again, off again "sputtering". I have noticed, in the past, this "cutting out" that you describe at higher, steadier rates of speed. Wonder if this is the beginning of what I am seeing today? I'm calling my dealer tomorrow. See what they have to say. Need I add that it had better be covered. GRRRRR...I hate dealing with car problems. I'm not a mechanic and don't want to be one.

Got the call a few minutes ago. The Dodge does indeed have a fuel pump problem. Sputtering, cutting out, won't start, etc. Left the wife stranded on the side of the road this last time. Catch is - Pump will be covered but not the fuel filter. Bankston Dodge in Frisco rep Paul stated that if we don't pay an additional $110 for the fuel filter, they won't warrant the replacement pump. He stated that when the pump failed it "may have" contaminated the fuel filter which "might" cause a pump failure in the future. I know the upsell is important for every business, but it seems that if the pump failed . . . . . Anyway, we'll see. Is the pump before or after the fuel pump I wonder? If after, then pump should backwash should it? Have had nothing but problems with this van - electrical problems took 7 days to be diagnosed at Frisco Dodge, where the "factory" had to be called in to determine a power unit was to blame. Wonder if this could have affected the fuel pump??? Power problem has returned again - lights flicker, dash, headlights, A/C blower slows and then speeds up again. Hear the power steering pump is a problem also and fortunately got the A/C pump compressor replaced on the recall. Power window has problems too. Still, we like the van otherwise, just having problems and will live with it until we can get something else.
