if a civic runs 500hp how long can the engine live? and can it be a daily driver?

Well that has no answer, it all depends. Depends on what the 500+ hp is made out of, turbo, Nitrous Oxide etc. It depends A LOT on the quality of the installation of the aftermarket performance products. Can it be a daily driver, well depends to you...If your going to have ALL that power on a civic maybe youll be spinning tires every street light even if you don want to, but I guess theres a way to make it a harsh daily driver. The engine wont last as long as a stock engine of course.

face it... as a daily driver? it aint gonna happen! now I know someone is going to get on here all uppety about how their bro has a 550hp t4 turbo b18 hittin the nawzzz with the stand alone fuel management and direct port nitrous injection and a cool air intake and blah blah... but then me and the mad scientist will have to rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried!! (wooooo, check that girl )

the one or two 500 hp daily driven civics out there are the exception, not the rule.... that is if there are any in the first place

you need two, no three of those naws bottles to take it to 600hp :) and make sure you put slicks on the back so that you dont drift around corners. and dont forget the aluminum winng..

tehe.. :)

:werd: My first question would be: Why in the hell would you want a 500HP front-wheel drive car?

I've actually seen quite a few daily driven 450hp Civic's... all were turbo'd B18C1's, and all had $10,000+ invested in JUST the engine mod's...
Why can't people be more modest though and shoot for a 250hp daily driver? That seems more reasonable to me...

no one said they wanted a front wheel 500hp car :screwy:

I can read just fine, thanks.

Just saying 500HP going to the front-wheels would suck ass. Shit FWD sucks period,

can it last as long as the average car, or does its life spand decrease by 70%?

BullShifter

It all depends, if done correctly it could last for 100,000miles or 10,000miles or 1 run. Most people with high power engines rebuild them yearly or more so life span dont really matter. If you can afford a 500HP engine, you can afford to maintain it properly. Expect to some how work on the car almost every time you drive.

In general the more you modify something the less reliable it becomes.
