How to tell the Si tranny apart from dx and hf?

Im getting a si tranny for 100 bucks but i wanna make sure its a si and not a dx or hf what should be stamped on the tranny?

There is no difference stamped on the tranny.
I believe dx's are 4 spd not positive though.

no they are 5 speeds, STD's are 4's

Actually, the DX & Si trannies have the same gearing. What makes them different is the final drive ratio in the Si.
There is a way to tell the difference. check here and head for the tranny info --> http://www.d16a.com

The serial numbers on the sticker have no meaning at all!

the si tranny is stamped L3. that is the easiest way to spot it. if you would like i can take a pic of the stamp....i have one sitting outside :)

L3 doesnt mean its an SI tranny ami, all manual 88-91 civic/crx trannys are stamped L3 :p

im trying to find the pic on how to test to see what gearing it has...
EDIT- no luck, only place i know has the way to see what gears you have by spinning the input shaft and seeing where the axles end up, is www.d16a.com which is currently down.
