h22 swap

i have a 1991 acura integra ls special edition and i want to do an h22 swap for it. where would i find the parts to put it in.

any import tuner shop should be able to get your the all the parts. slim possiblilty would also be the junkyards... i think you will need mounts from hasport.

if you go to a real import tuner shop, they should tell you to stay away from the h22. the b18 is a all-around better engine. h22s are turbo-unfriendly due to thin cylinder walls. h22s are great for N/A

with the money you put into putting an H22 into your teg you'd have a killer b18 build. im thinking at a shop it would be around $4K for a H22 swap (and i think im lowballing the price there). thats one hell of a nice custom turbo build. you can run up to 12psi properly tuned on an LS. even if your car has high mileage you could still afford a engine with lower mileage from the salvage yard or from someone who has one from a wrecked car or something. all in all don't waste your money man just my :2cents:

What are you going to do with the car? Turbo,supercharger,nitrous,all motor? If turbo then i would go with what 93weed_eater posted if all motor go with a B20 more hp and torque and put some cams and higher compression pistons in it along with a port and polish job and you will have a real quick car. The H22 is a terrible swap IMO b/c of the weight and the thin cylinder wall and the weak ring lands. You will experience understeer with the H22 swap and are limited to what you can do but with the bseries motors you can do alot more. :2cents:

honestly, i'd jus put a turbo on ur b18a.

its a great base w/ its lower compression an long gears.

it'd be the most cost efficient way to go fast.

hey look to those people that tell u that the H22 swap is no good cause of the extra weight that u have on the engine...dont even trip on them... the engine weight only 60lbs more the b16 and b18... and with the 40 more lbs of torque and 40 hp over the b16 and 15 over the b18 ull have plenty of more power then the rest of them...ive seen a prelude stock to a gsr stock and the gsr was killed by like car and a half... plus puttin an H22 in an integra is the same as putting one in a EG hatch u use the same motor mounts...and an EG h22 runs 13.4 1/4 mile stock. so if u want an h22 get one....that is what im doing and it is going to cost me 2000 for a Euro Type S H22. complete but i have a friend who owns a shop so that is y it is so cheap for me...but go to www.japandomesticmotors.com they sell H22 for 1900 with everyting u need way less the b16 and GSR and ull smoke them guaranteed... all depends on what chu want ...

It's going to be a bitch to put an h22 in your 91 teg straight up. It's NOT the same as putting it in an EG, you have a smaller engine bay. If it's more similar to a 88-91 engine bay size then you're going to have to have some custom fabrication to fit it in. The h22 in an EG is pretty damn cramped so any smaller engine bay you'll have to do some cutting of the sides or firewall. But if you've got the $ and can find a good shop to do the swap the DO IT; you'll be happy as hell with the power. There are EG and EK's with h22s doing mid-high 13's just like lavenderroll said. You'll need to upgrade you shocks and springs. My buddy spent around $5G's to get the swap done in his 95 4dr, but he also upgraded his clutch and flywheel and a few other things; and did all the work himself-no shop involved. But again like most have stated it also depends on what you want to do with it (NA, Turbo, All Motor.)
