The only reason you would need a vtec controller is if you put a vtec engine into a chasis that had an ecu that didn't originally have vtec. Then you would need a vtec controller so that the engine would switch over into vtec at a specified rpm.

What vtec controller does he have, Apex'i VAFC, or something else.
Btw, you really dont need to be changing your vtec engagement on a stock car.

Only reason you need a vtec controller is if you're running larger cams, in which case you should be running a standalone that can control vtec activation anyways.

Wrong, You need VTEC controllers for a couple things. As already stated, VTEC engagement will need to be modified w/ the use of aftermarket cams to attain the true potential of the cams. Also with an aftermarket ECU or reprogrammed, you can use a VAFC to tune the aggressive fuel map or push the VTEC cross-over back for the best gain seeing as most aftermarket programs puch the cross-over forward.

Yes I know that vtec controllers can be used for different things. I was just trying to point out that there is no point in getting one for a stock motor. I figured he might have swapped a vtec engine into his car and wasn't getting vtec because he had no way to get it to engage.

:werd: WTF is a SOHC LS VTEC? There is no such thing as a LS single cam. :loser:
