ive got a 94 camaro with the 3.4 auto in it. i have the oppertunity to get a free engine swap up to the 3.8 man. off of a 97(the tranny comes with it). i know my buddy and i will be able to do the switch no matter what we encounter in terms of fitting problems, but does any one know if there are any major ones...ie the exhaust manifolds and y pipe or transmission mounts. also has anyone done the auto to manual switch before?

My understanding was that the 3.4 is basicly a 2.8 block (from the 3rd gen) with a different crank. So if your new block is totally different (which I'm quite certain it will be), you'll definately be needing different exhaust manifolds and stuff...
Might as well get headers and re-do your whole exhaust system then.
But, changing to a 3.8 is a good idea (IMO) cause you'd actually have some aftermarket support unlike the 3.4.

the manual swap could be a bitch though...

i know that the manual thing is gonna be a hugfe bitch but im pretty sure i can pull it off, my friend thinks it wont be too bad because everything will be setup for it we just have to transfer all the parts over which could take a lot of man hours and some thinking...but i didnt know about the block so that's good info thanx
