Could someone give me the definition of code 0420 on a 2000 silverado 5.3 and a possible fix. ty

Pretty much a P0420 code means replace the catalytic converter.
If your truck has less than 80k on it, the repairs (converter replacement) are covered under your GM warranty at no charge to you.
