Is the axle clicking yet?
There is not too much involved as far as I am concerned. First and for most, you need to be able to get the axle nut off and it has been known to be a major PITA for some people.

Yeah I just got the axles changed on my car- 95 civic EX coupe, they were clicking and had been for a while. The CV Boot was completely ripped open so that there were two different sides to the boot- it was of course originally one sealed piece. I would also suggest just changing the whole axle. The hardest part I had was getting the nut and two screws that hold on the brake rotor off and making that damn shield in back of the rotor stop rubbing against the rotor itself :banghead: . All in all not to difficult though. Just make sure you get good replacement axles. Unless you get a hook-up though, like I did, it is going to cost you to go to a shop. A good price at a shop I checked was $302 and some change for my car. I got it done for $200 even including labor which was only $20 a side- I replaced both cuz both were fucked up bad. :smokin:

hey what's up everybody....well i broke my cv joint too, but mine was making a real real loud "TACK TACK" noise, i mean a real ugly grinding noise...loud! And the car would go up and down a little when it rolled in time with the noise.....the cv boot was broken and grease was leaking out everywhere...
The problem is i was stranded in a national park and had to drive it about 4 miles to get out & call a tow truck. (im in ecuador)
So the question is, did this make the problem worse? Can i just replace the axle and be done with it? Or did this cause major damage to other parts?????
Need to know before i go to the mechanic so i don't get ripped off!!!!!!
thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!

You shouldnt have done any damage to other parts. As long as the car was still rolling I think that you are alright. Just replace the axle and you should be good to go.

When I got it qouted at a mechanic is was $302 and some change...but this was for rebuilt axles. New axles would run around $400 or $500 as a rough estimate. I got hooked up from a friend and only ended up paying $200 even for both sides+installation, which was fairly easy.
THANKS!!!!

man mine wasn't even really making that noise, the weird thing is that
mine would do it when i was stopping.
But, you should get that checked out, sounds like the cv joint is about to go, it happens all the time with hondas from what i've heard.
