Engine Stress

Hey, I am getting a turbo put onto a LS b18b1 and i was going to rebuild the motor. I am eventually going to replace all the internals, but I am just curious which of the internal parts of an engine take the most beating while driving and while running under high boost. Thx alot!

Your pistons, rods, head studs, and clyinder walls/sleeves. The first thing to go will prob be the clutch though.

Aight thx man. Out of those what would you say took the most beating under a high boost enviroment? And how about the crank shaft... does that take a beating at all with higher boost?

under any kind of forced induction with heavy driveing you're going to strain the whole engine. the weak points are place where metal to metal contact is made. like pistons and cylinder walls. Any time something rubs against something it causes wear. most engines are able to handle so much in stock form. you could go ahead and do the turbo with correct engine management and be alright on stock internals for a good bit depending on your setup and amount of boost. you clutch is something that is a must to replace too. they can go in a matter of weeks when driving hard with a turbo car that wasn't ment to have a turbo from the factory. :2cents:

Usually the first thing to go, if you dont run a good EMS I forsee cracked ring lands and possibly broken skirts.
