Mom's Ride?

Okay, I see a lot of people with nice cars....

kids with bmw's, mercedes, and lexus'.... actin like they're everything!

but a lot of them too aren't really their cars... it's either their parents cars, or cars that their parents bought for them. This is fine and dandy but it does suck for us people who have to pay for our car, insurance, and our mods...

so my question is what category do you classify yourself as? are you a bill gates rich mo-fo? are you driving mama's car? are you a regular joe just trying to make ends meet? are you a kid who doesn't have rent to pay?

be honest.... we really want to know.

My parents bought my first car only so they could controll where I went and when I went there. I have always paid my own way and have bought all my cars ever since.

For my 17th b-day I came home to a brand new '99 Mazda Miata. The deal was though that I pay half. So I do. But I have to pay for all the mods that I want.

Lucky, I came home and found a 1984 Dodge Daytona. Oh well it was in great condition.

I have paid with my own money, for every car I have owned. Nothing feels better than dropping a load of cash on a car, knowing you earned it. The onlly thing my parents have bought for me, that has to do with my cars, was a starter. That was because my dad happened to be at the parts store, when I called him and asked him to pick it up for me.

hey there isn't anything wrong with driving your parents lexus. or whatever they own... as long as you treat it like it's their's cuz i treat tha car with extreme caution.... well.... i rev it when i need to and don't when i don't. so don't hate the people who's parents don't have enough money to buy them a new car or if that guy/girl don't have enough money to buy his/her own car...

Parents bought my first car (high school) in 93 a 1985 Ford Bronco XLT.
Parents bought my second car (college) in 96 a 1993 Ford Probe SE.
I finished college in 99 and they gave me the title to the Probe and said it was officially mine. I sold it for 3500 and bought myself my current car which the bank owns add I have only 2 years of payments left. BTW, I bought it off E-bay.

It's the "I'm better than you" attitude that pisses me off.

Yeah, i hate the "im better than you because my parents are rich and they bought me a better car than you, even though im a materialistic jerk" If your parents buy you a car and you show some sort of modesty about it, its all good.

I didn't buy my first car until 22. I couldn't afford to own one with a 12k a year university education.

I had to borrow my mom's car, which is an old Chevy. And I was barely able to pay for my part of the insurance on it. All my money went toward books, travel to school, and classes.

I wasn't even able to afford to drive my mom's car until my second year of university. Car insurance in Chicago sucks! Especially since my parents decided to get $100 deductible, full coverage.

The guys here who parents dropped a car into their lap are lucky. Unfortunately, I have been hit by those kids to.

Nobody cares about your grades!

Grades should not equate parents buying their kids cars. If that is the expectation today, I can tell you, my kids, whenever I decide to have them, can walk.

If you're a man, you'll earn your own stuff with your own labor, not the labor of your mom and dad. Maybe it's because of how I grew up, but you reach an age, where you have to take care of yourself. It's around the time when your mom and dad tell you that Santa isn't real.

I actually dumped one woman after she bitched that her parents didn't treat her well by buying her only a 25k car. I was like, "woman, you have serious issues with your priorities." "I'm sorry, but this just isn't gonna work. Maybe you should call a cab since my car only cost 22k."

I bought my first car, saved up for a couple months while I drove to work in back in my mom's car, once she got home from work. When i got a couple thousand in the bank, i went out and bought my first car (1994 G20), had that for a year, and then realized I wanted a 5-spd, so I took the money i had saved towards a turbo kit, traded in my auto for a 5-spd, and put the turbo money down as a down payment. Now i'm back to working, and saving for the turbo again :D BTW, I pay insurance, gas, everything for my car.... pay for my apartment and school too, that sucks worse.

hey don't playa hate on people who are better off than you.. congradulate.... but hate on those bammas that think they the shit with their parent bought car... it's a matter of perspective. you can't just put a stereotype on everyone who has a parent bought car. my parents are buying me a car so i can get around and sooner or later after i graduate from college and work i'll pay back every thing my parents did for me in one way or another... so it's all depends on circumstances....
BUT BITCH AT THOSE people who are rich spoiled brats that can go kick my ass!!!1

Yeah, i dont give shit to people if they show some modesty about it. Or some appreciation, or nearly as often not found, some intelligence. See, most of the time they didnt buy, they dont pay upkeep, they dont care about taking care of it, they hit somebody, or some other bad shit happens, my damn insurance rate goes up, i get pissed...

So even if you didnt buy it, learn it, take care of it, appreciate it, dont be a snobbish dumbass about it, and everyone will be happy,

My first car was an 82 Monte Carlo. My Great Grandpa gave it to me for my 16th birthday. But i was at camp at that time. My Grandpa picked up the car from Twin Oaks in Cali. He called my up at camp and told me he got me a car at camp. He was exited. I was exited to come home to a Monte Carlo. But when i arrived finally at his house a couple days later some one was buying it. I got pissed. So my Grandpa sold it for 1800 and promised he was gunna give me the money for another car. A couple days later he comes to me and asks me if i wanted to go to the auction and pick out a car. I was like ok. We got to the auction and he bought 4 cars and gave me a choice between the three. Two Tempos, A 85 Datsun 240zx, and a 93 Cavalier Convertable. I picked the Cavalier (what a mistake). Oh well we had problems till the time it died on us from the day we bought it. I wanted to trade the 240zx with the cavalier because of the problem that we have been having with it. I drive to his house and ask where the 240z is and he tells me it was sold yesterday. Damnit. Oh well now i have a brand new Cavalier that im paying for that they helped me get.

I work for my shit, granted my parents bought my 2 cars, but I worked to pay them back. I've also worked modding the hell out of, almost done.. now if I could only hold a steady job and a good job. I keep getting laid off and frankly I'm getting sick and tired of it :banghead:

My parents only let me use the pathfinder when they felt like it.. until i used my own hard earned cash to get zee 7. And now that I dont have any insurance money, zee 7 must sit in the garage until i get insurance/modding money. But that will be soon.

Someone said earlier that guys should have to work for their cars why not girls too? If you ask me girls are much worse. I know more spoiled girls than I know guys. Example this girl I know got a brand new beetle always talked about how she didn't like it then crashed it cause she was trying to work the radio. And now she has a late 90s BMW convertible. And their are a ton more girls in my school like her.

I had to work to pay for my truck. Before that I had the Chevelle, which was given to me when I turned 16. I kinda earned that too, considering I helped my Dad build it.
