first kill with my new integra

Well I've had my 95 Integra for about four days now and finally lined up for the first time. I raced a 91 Prelude Si 5 spd. with intake, headers and exhaust. As far as I knwo that's all the guy has. My car is still stock. (Ironicly I had an intake and some headers in my trunk). We went on three honks. We both had a pretty got start with not too much wheelspin and right of the line I started pulling on him. I kept pulling steady until we hit about 90 mph and I shut down. By that time I was about 1 1/2 cars ahead of him. He pulled up next to me after the race, gav me the thumbs up and said "that four door 's got some go".
I don't really know how fast those Preludes are especially with bolt-ons but I was very surprised that I took him. After all it is a four door sedan with a non v-tec motor.

for some reason i have a hard time believing this story, i believe that you could beat him but i doubt by 1 1/2 cars

I just told it like it happened. By the time we hit about 90 or 95 mph you could have fit a car and a half in between mine and his. Oh and I was surprised just as much as anyone. I expected to be beaten.

sheesh...he told it like he saw it.
why lie about beating a 91 lude?

How does the Integra RS, weighing in at 2550lbs (the lightest Integras before the ITR), having 142HP and 132 TQ, not beat a 1991 Prelude Si that weighs 2690lbs, with 140HP and 135TQ?
Even worse, he might've mis-identified, and the 'Lude might've been an '88-'90 model that only had 135HP and 127TQ.
Is it me, or is the collective car IQ on this board going down?
No knock on anybody that's actually contributing, but people have been quick to call BS lately without either researching, or thinking about what they're saying.

Well I go to school with the guy I raced and know his car is the 91 Si. I've looked up the weight of my car on autotrader and it was like 2623lbs. It said it was actually lighter than a Type R by 11lbs, which I can't really believe. I don't know how accurate the information on autotrader is though.

Autotrader, and sites like that tend to generalize their numbers based on manufacturer numbers.
If you look, they rate the S2000 at 2,809lbs. My friend's S2000 weighs-in at 2,750 or so with no weight reductions and stock rims.
Maybe different weighing standards?
Anyhow...AutoTrader rates the 1991 Prelude 2.0 Si as such:

so next time you wanna be a smartass, stop.Ok...you want to go into details.
Point 1: The fact that the Prelude has mods means that that 12-year-old car probably has been raced a lot, and hasn't had a good life. A stock Integra RS has better chances of being mechanically sound.
Point 2: The Prelude is still heavier.
Point 3: I have raced both type of cars...both with similar I/E mods, and although both lost, the Integra kept-up WAY better.
Point 4: They may have similar power, but the Integra has better gearing and a higher redline, meaning longer acceleration through each gear.
Point 5: As somebody pointed-out earlier, who would come on here to brag about barely beating a Prelude 2.0 Si?
Point 6: Look at the link I provided above. The 2.0 Si, is not only heavier, but is rated at 135hp.
Point 7: If you truly believe that I/H/E on a 12-year-old powerplant with a lot of hard miles gives anything more than 7, maybe 10 usable ponies, you are in dire need of a reality check.
Point 8: I wasn't being a smart-ass...I was being serious.

If you knew you're shit, you'd know that 100lbs is equal to .1 seconds on your quarter mile. meaning, the weight difference doesnt really make that BIG of a difference.. maybe half a fuckin fender.
My boy has a H23, with the I/H/E plus hes fat as hell
He can keep up with an LS non vtec with I/H/E new suspension, short shifter, and hondata.
and who said the prelude had a lot miles? who said it was driven hard? how would you know how many hp he got from his mods? you're assuming and thats because... you dont know shiet.

hrmmmm...
lets start with this...its not good to argue/curse at moderators. yes, disagree w/ them all u want, but keep some respect in the posts, an they will do the same.
ok, here we go w/ wut u said. .1 seconds is more like 1/2-3/4 of a car (really depends on the speed of both cars etc...)
IF we use ur logic, the integra weighs over around 150 lbs less, which would mean about 1/2 a car right there.
ur "boy" having an h23 has nothing to do with this post. the 91 came with the b20...so i don't really see how that has to do with anything.
newbies these days...

So your boy, with an H23 that has, stock-for-stock, 20 more HP, and 24 more lbs of TQ than an LS 'Teg, and only weighs (the car) about 100-150lbs more is just "keeping up" with this Integra LS. By your standards, besides your "boy" being a porker (you said it), he should be BEATING the LS 'Teg. Which shows you how important weight difference is.
But, like KrNxRaCer00 said, that's beside the point. The 2.0 Si, if you'd link to what I put up before, has 135HP and 127TQ...and weighs barely under your "boy's" car. What does that tell you?
and who said the prelude had a lot miles? who said it was driven hard? how would you know how many hp he got from his mods? you're assuming and thats because... you dont know shiet.
The Prelude is 12-years-old. The Prelude had mods before this race, which means it has been raced before this incident. What does that tell you?
I can "assume" how many HP he got from mods because I've been doing this for a long time son. I know and have seen what mods actually give certain Hondas.
You, on the other hand is ASSUMING that the race is bullshit, because you are jocking your "boy's" Prelude, which doesn't even have anything with the discussion at hand.
You are ASSUMING that 92teggsr would come on here and lie about a race where he even said he expected to lose.
You are ASSUMING everything you are saying, since you weren't there.
You are ASSUMING that you have some kind of credibility in here...signing-up just to call BS on a member. If it wasn't believable at all, I can understand, but in this case, you are just straight-up being an ASS.
...and last, but not least.
You are ASSUMING that you can just come on here and curse with impugnity...a wrong assumption I might add...since I can ban you right now just for that kind of language towards a mod alone.
Think about it. You are the only one arguing this. Shows how much YOU know.

I based it on the driver.
I said either the kid in the prelude is a bad driver or the kid in the integ is a really good driver
you're makin it seem like the prelude had no chance against the integ just because it weighs 100 more lbs and has 2 less hp stock

OK Mr. Know It All explain this, I have a 91 4dr civic that has a d15b2 in it, with a intake, header and exaust. Now I raced a 92 prelude S (which has 135 hp and 142lb-ft tq so it has the same hp and 31lb-ft mopre tq) with a intake and nothing else, we were dead even until about 75 mph or so and he pulled about 2feet on me and that was how it stayed until 110 or so and we stopped. Now My civic from the factory was rated at 92 hp and don't know how much tq. And I had 16 inch wheels and he had stockers. So explain this Newbie.
BTW you are completely wrong in arguing about the oringinal post.

Well, well, well, I never thought my thread would start a huge argument. Here are some facts about the race and about this thread:
1.) The guy that owns the Prelude did all of the mods himslef so the car has been modded for about 1 year.
2.) I have never actually seen or heard him drive off fast until I raced him (which doesn't mean shit though because he could be runnin it hard every other time)
3.) Do not disagree with carrrnut for several reasons: 1. He knows his stuff. 2. He's a mod. and 3. Any thread I've ever read that was written to me sounded straight and not like it was fabricated or BS.
4.) My car has 70k easy miles on it. The Prelude might have 170k hard miles on it (I don't know), which would probably explain it all right there.

Well see the thing is that you should have beaten him. But for some dumb reason that one guy is not believing it. Eventhough it is true and I believe you man. Don't know why he feels so compelled to argue with carrnut about it though :screwy:

i said this how early in this thread? hmm. this makes me think, was he
1: trying to be ignorant (as a joke), 2: questioning carrrnuttt because it was a dare, or 3: he is a newbie and we should get over it already.
what kinda action are u taking carrrnuttt? ban or teach a lesson. i think this kid should be banned, or he should just retire this username. either way, he would get a fresh start-one which i think this 'boy' needs.
i go with number 3
especially because this was the most pointless arguement
Ok heres what i was thinkin...
I thought that the prelude could take the stock RS with the fact that there was only a slight weight difference and the mods should have given it an upper hand. If carrrnut wants to ban me for an arguement he brought upon this thread, whatever. Im sorry that ima NEWBIE. I didnt know it was a fuckin sin to have a dispute with a moderator on this forum. But yea, i see some valid points about his arguement. alrighty? so i suggest we stop postin about this topic. Im sick of dealin with internet tough guys. No pun intended.
