Clutch problem

Just installed a centerforce on my 90 GSX. Everything seemed ok, but the clutch will not disengage at all. The slave moves fine, system is bled, and I dont think its the throwout. Theres pressure when you apply the clutch pedal, but there is no response. Any Ideas?

Check the clutch pedal adjustment

If I was a betting man, I'd say the flywheel was not machined to the correct step height. ;)

Make sure it was machined to .610-.612

Did you install the clutch facing the correct direction? I've done that once, everything else worked fine, but it wouldn't engage. Try that out.

You have to get the flywheel machined? Well I guess that would explain it. Time to take the tranny back off, oh yay. And no its not on backwards. How did you get the pressure plate on with the clutch backwards?

It's kind of easy if you don't stop for a second. I was rushing to get it done for a friend of mine. We tried to start the car & it wouldn't go into gear, pull the trans back out & voila'! Flipped the clutch around & it worked perfect.

Dont underestimate how important it is to get it cut correctly. Some one above mentioned a figure of .610-.612. I'm assuming he knows that it is the correct figure for the type of clutch you have (it is for ACT, but RPS for example is .620). BE SURE the machinist you take it to understands that this is critical if you want this clutch to hold power and last. Make him measure it in front of you with the appropriate tools before you pay. ;) Good luck.

K, I'm having probs with my clutch again

my pressure plate it eating up throwout bearings, its an ACT2100
at first I used the bearing that came with the clutch, that got ate up.
I put an OEM bearing in, this one lasted a bit longer, but now Its making noise when I release the clutch, when I push it in its silent as a lamb.

here's the plan, I'm thinkin about putting the stock pressure plate back in with the ACT street disk.

good or bad idea?

Did you grease the input shaft? That could be causing the scoring and noise you're hearing from the T.O.B. Don't slop it on, it only needs a bit.

Yes I greased the imput shaft, torqued the pressure plate, cut the flywheel and all that good stuff
it also have a new master and slave

I'm having probs with my tranny, I'm thinking its the throw out bearing. Mines making a loud grinding noise in neutral when it's cold. When you push the clutch in it goes away, but ofcourse this could be a main shaft bearing or anything else. The noise nearly goes away when its warmed up.

Anyone have any ideas? Any info would be appriciate.

ACT disc is hardly an upgrade over stock. In fact, to save about 50 bucks, MANY people order a ACT plate and a stock 2g disc.

Yeah, its the pressure plate you want to be most concerened about, its gotta hold all the HP you are putting down.
