i dont wanna sound mean, but obviously youre fresh to this 240sx thing. so instead of asking bandwagon questions, kindly read the 240sx FAQ.

the members worked hard on it, so just take the time to read it and if theres an unanswered question there, then go ahead and ask.

i cant wait to read this tomorrow when some other regulars flame you...

body kit = gay (especially on a 240sx)
custom paint? like racing stripes and decals on the side? GAY
skyline engine...which one? rb20, rb25, rb30 hybrid, or rb26? to just say skyline engine sounds like a bandwagon jumper...it would be like saying "anything jdm" or "some jdm engine swap"...each of those engines is very different

there are two types of s14 kouki and zenki...the rest you will have to figure out on your own...

i dont know you and i dont claim to know you, but i think you might be better off with an eclipse or some other sport compact since they arent as rare and usually look better with a body kit and take better to the mods you want to do...

civic, prelude, accord, integra, cr-x, eclipse, 3000gt, maxima, celica, talon, mx-6, avenger, etc would all be cars youll enjoy i bet...

body kits on a 240 aren't ALWAYS gay. think of GP Sports, or C-West, or G-Corporation, G-Grow, Uras, DRFT, etc etc etc. all of these body kits are functional and actually do something for your car's aerodynamics AS WELL AS make it look GOOD, instead of most of the Veilside-rip-off ricey crap that just adds weight, makes the car look ugly, and doesn't do anything for the aero.

also, i don't see why you included the 3000GT in your list of seemingly rice cars that he should alternatley consider...3000GT's are very capable cars, easily able to beat Supra's and RX-7's alike. it's just (sadly) more common that they're riced out and ruined.

Penny - read the FAQ man and i can guarantee most of your questions will be answered in there.

How can you guys say bodykits are gay after that??? OUCH that looks so good... it's a big ass improvement over pignose ANY day :P

BTW, Iketani, when you said Veilside rip-offs, did you mean VIS kits or were you implying that the legit Veilside kits themselves are rip-offs...

As for bandwagon jumpers... if you actually went out and GOT the skyline engine, I think that would pull you out of that bracket. Don't be jealous now :)

It's been a long time since someone posted "Will the RB26 fit into the S__ 240sx"... :D

he sounds like a young bandwagon jumper or a newbie just exploring his options. First off why would you want to by a car you don't like the looks of? Just to spend money to get a ricey body kit so it looks more FaF? Some Chromes, Custom Paint, and Neon are next eh? NO OFFENSE, but I say get a Honda. For doing what you want to a honda will be cheaper to mod, have more options, and look better. Did I mention it was cheaper? you can do more stuff to it for the same price. That might not mean much to your silver spoon kids but some of us count money lol.

Seriously a car with custom paint isn't going to go with a Skyline engine. Put a 10k dollar paint job on a car and you won't catch me driving it on the streets fast or hardly at all. By the same token if Im going to do that, then why the hell would I need a faster motor? If I was actually going to do that I would just keep my engine COMPLETELY stock, its about 4x more reliable this way easily. Just cruise and enjoy your show car.

Now many people might consider that rice, I don't really. Not if it atleast looks tasteful on the outside. I think mainly its the Drivers attitude that determins if a vehicle is a rice machine. If you got a 100hp coffee can honda being annoying to v8's and talking shit, then you could be rice.

the 240sx is the wrong car to make into a show car, its probably twice as expensive as a Honda to modify in that region. And if I was going to make a nice looking car I would truthfully probably start with a Honda myself. That wide availbilty and selection of cheap parts can't be beat.

But... if you love the car enough and are willing to save/work for the money to upgrade looks AND power, why not? It'd be a hell of a sacrifice, but who's not to say they wouldn't deserve it? Then again if you got money comin out of the ass then you could do anything.. like repairing that 10k paint job right? Really though, look at the owners of the G35C which is another sexy little job Nissan created. Great paint, great body, AND the muscle to back that shit up. They've already got people working on super chargers for that! You can't seriously call that rice now can you... it's all in the attitude of the driver like you said, and you shouldn't worry because its doubtful most ricers would take the time/effort/money to put it into a 240sx (after they find out about the running costs)

10-15-2003, 10:21 AM
yeah but the G35 is stock. What if you put on one of those "combat" veilside knockoff kits lmao! Then tinted the windows yellow, got some red accent interior and some Chrome Rims with a fart can. Now that would be customizing it to look good in some eyes but thats just f'n rice!

I think the 350z is one of the best looking cars stock, not much you can do to make the exterior nicer without being gauddy

that Veilside kit is fucking repulsive. it makes the car look like some sort of retarded guppy fish. i would keep my hognose (with OEM lip) over that ANY DAY OF THE WEEK! but then, IMO, ALL Veilside kits are over-done and ugly...

what you do to your car is entirely your decision in the long run, but my main argument is that the 240SX was made to DRIVE, so why "waste" (in my eyes at least) one example of 240SX by turning it into a show-car when you can easily do that to a Civic or some other econo-box that wasn't made to drive? sitting a 240SX on a car-show floor is like sitting a lawnmower in your living room as a conversation piece. it's not doing what it was made for, so what's the point?

G35 and 350z are probably the best cars to come out recently. MRS is pretty nice too, but to me it doesn't seem as useful since it has a soft top (hardtop is available from toyota...though it's still a far cry from a t-top or solid roof)...it's also a 2 seater with very little space to carry your shit. It's sad that so many companies have given up altogether on rwd and awd sports coupes/cars...no supra, rx7 (rx8 is a 4 seater and 4 door...and it looks ass ugly...sorry, but even with a nice, somewhat reliable n/a rotary and rwd it's still not worthy of praise)...celica is still here, but it's only offered in fwd now...all sorts of other nice cars are gone or stuck in japan.

About the 3000gt...while is may be a decent car...it's very heavy with the vr-4 weighing nearly 4000 pounds. 2 tons...that's insane when you look at many of the best handling and performance cars tipping the scales are just over 1 ton. The 3000gt/stealth, from my experience, have some engine problems and they just aren't that great in terms of spirit. I drove a stealth ES awhile back and it just felt clunky and heavy...granted it was the fwd, naturally aspirated, 200hp and not the r/t (or vr-4 in the 3000gt's case) with awd, twin turbos and another 100hp or so...but my point is that it still felt like a hulking piece of lead and it was quite a bit lighter than the premium trim package. 3000gt also seemed to be like the z32...a bit too much technology that really had no purpose on the car...4ws...basically useless...active aero parts...basically useless...(computer controlled) adjustable back pressure exhaust...good idea, but seemingly just another thing to add weight...

To me, weight is a bad thing and the heavier the car you are using to make into a nice performance car...the more power youll need and (generally) the less gas mileage youll get...along with handling suffering with each of those pounds.

And btw...that body kit looks hideous...the stock pignose looks hot :grinno:

I always said hognose was kickass lol!

the day I see a DOHC car converted over to a hognose bumper will be funnier then shit lol.

Petit Racing accross the street got their hands on a rx8. I have no idea what is done to it, but that fucker sounds mean, real mean, and nice!!! saw em get the ass out taking a corner too, looked like a good handling machine, was real swift and stable.

so what if it has 4 seats, did you know Skylines and the Supra have backseats?.... these are some fo the finest sports cars in my opinion to come from Japan and in the world. the rx8 is almost as fast as the new 350z, I believe it has 250hp and 2800?lbs....sup 3k lbs I know for sure.
I would drive one if someone gave it to me. If someone gave me a Civic I would sell it..... lol

BACK OT

240sx is not a show car. a d1 car or a Japanese Tuner's demo will be about the closest thing you will come to a 240sx that is still worthy and is flashy. Even if you look at those kinds of cars closely they are all banged to hell up, dents, scratches.... but they still look good lol.

Well my point... as with the G35, why not have both style and speed since its possible (of course speed first :P)? I personally prefer the Veilside over the Pignose, but hey, some people prefer the Pignose over Strawberry face! *one member of socal240sx converted to Strawberry, then back to Pig... :D* Other good kits are the URAS styles (check raretrick), but some people think it makes the car look too camaro-ish --its all SUBJECTIVE so yeah, do what you want!

Annnyway, don't the kits have aerodynamic properties to them? If not that... the big ass guppy mouth should help the FMIC pretty well? And the fixed headlights save you on weight too don't they...

I don't think any aftermarket bumper has aerodynamic testing done to it that can compare to the stock one. These cars are wind tunneled and all sorts of things... They are functional and do work. People just throw them away for junk cause they are "stock"

I think the 240sx Coupe DOHC, in black, no body mods, GUNMETAL Kosei 1's is one of the best looking 240's I've ever seen. Just something about the Coupe, it doesn't really need a bunch of gaudy shit. People like the Type X Tailights and spoiler for the 180sx not too mention the aftermarket, I see hatchbacks modified A LOT more then coupes, and most modified coupes just have a stock paneled silvia front end....

rx-8s are sweet cars, car mag. test drivers say better then the rx-7 (which i believe). obviously they are not near as good looking, and that honda-torque RENESIS motor isn't the greatest, but the cars handle like a dream, so they say.

btw, they are nowhere near as fast as a 350z.

There's a reason that car is in my sig...and its not because of how it looks...if you dont understand that... I can't explain it to you.

And for a street car...a body kit on an S14 is stupid IMO...custom paint? yeah it is stupid...unless it's a solid color and a good color (note: lime green is not a good color for a street car)...

"if you get a s14 put a rb26det in it if you goin to drag it...or sr20det if ya wanna drift it" I can't even believe you said that...refer to duy for a 10 second KA powered 240sx...and there are shit loads of 240sx/silvia/200sx drifters using anything from a KA, KA-T, RB25, RB26, and numerous other engines...not just an SR20...

and it's not rb26det...its a twin turbo...TT...

Glad I read the FAQ first, but seriously, damn most of you guys are negative. If the kid likes what he likes, who the hell are we to knock it? That doesn't mean that any of us aren't entitled to our oppinion, but usually, "If you have nothing nice to say, then shut the hell up" as my Dad always said.
