i just got a 1990 celica stx auto, with a 4afe engine. of course like everyone else i want to speed it up a lot, now i know nothing about finding pats for the car so anyone have any sugestions about, converting it to a stick 6spd, or 5spd. And also i would like to swap the engine but don't know what will fit, and what would be the most upgradeable. thanks for any help.

Try the 5SFE from the GT. Its larger and has about 30 more horsepower and fits perfectly in the engine bay. The 5SFE with a 5 Speed tranny should help ya a bit.

I have the same car but mine is a 5 speed. i actually have 2 one is stick and one is auto the auto SUCKS feels like the tranny zaps allot of power but i was told a 4age or a 4agze supercharged would fit with little problems. all you have to do is re-wire the engine. i dont know if you have to change the ecu or not. but for mods open the exhaust up headers and intake. to get headers get them for a 1986 to i think 92 corolla they bolt to the engine but a little fabrication is needed for the joint to the exhaust pipe. well good luck ill post if i find new stuff.

my brother works in toyota as a mechanic and he says he can get me the 5sfe engine at his cost but i would like to shop around are there any other places i can go to find the price of a new engine i am not really interested in a junkyard engine. and i would also like to look into the change over from auto to stick i know its just a bolt up thing, except the holes in the firewall for the pedals of course, my problem exists as to where to find a nice tranny not out of a junk yard, and is it possible to get a 6speed in there? thanks for your time.
